Man that engine is set back. I little more clearance will be good. So what did I miss; why the extra cab? Just for the BBW? are you going to swap out the whole rear cab or just the window?

if you are running into issues with clearance on the firewall, you can do the "wheelbarrow" trick.
just find a steel wheelbarrow and use the tub as a new setback for your firewall, our ace hardware has 2 different sizes, a shallow, and a deep.

bought it for just the roof and window section, but I will be doing alot of measuring tomorrow to determine the best way to make it happen. Looks like it may be easier to swap rear cabs. Anyone know the difference between 62 and 63 cab mounts?

That is a fantastic idea! I was trying to figure out where I can get a nice contoured pressed steel surface without paying big bucks for new firewall.

IIRC, the front mounts are wider on the 60-62, the rear mounts are the same on 1/2 tons anyway

I know this is totally off topic, but I was amazed at the piloting skills this guy had today at Stanford hospital. I never realized how big these helicopters are, and they are LOUD. At one point there was 3 lifeflight helicopters on the rooftop, they were in and out all day!

I knew you would notice that! It's not just a garage door, but also serves as my backup limit detector. Truck backs in trailer, trailer hits '63, '63 hits sheet metal garage door, creating a loud boom. Trailer parked perfectly, '63 shaves down stock crossmember, garage door secured!

OK! I'm going to ship a steering knuckle for my 4wd project(another "quick" project

) tomorrow or Monday, I'll see if the post office has flat rate boxes for something that large.

Thanks for the info. I'm finally getting everything situated and getting ready to knock out some serious work before the rain starts. Trucks 4 inches to long to fit into the garage, so I've got to get on this quick. Good thing I've got my new secret book, let me know if anybody needs any info, this book has everything. Dimensions, measurements, even spot weld locations!

Hey, I was just looking at that truck, I bought a bunch off that truck last week,I really could use some metal if you are going to cut the cab in 1/2, I need around the window and visor area, I have lots of parts to give.trade and I am in the SF Bay Area, let me know....really awesome projects you guys got going..I love the crew cab conversions , wish I had more time and more room !!

Making progress!
Got the motor and tranny completely mounted, swapped a-arms to thier correct sides, and completed my dropmember kit for mock-up. I threw on the front sheelmetal, swapped transmission humps, and found out I ', still going to have to do some sheetmetal work to make everything fit. It now lays down on the oil pan, and tomorrow I'm going to take on the rear crossmember. Anyone have any suggestions for removing the rear crossmember rivets under the cab of the truck? I won't be able to access the top of the upper rivets.

Built 327 You need two tools in life: duct tape and WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, you use duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, you use WD-40.
