Re: Help me Rock My Ride and possibly win $500 for your truck...

John, I am assuming that the guy with the cameo is one of those people that really really really enjoys owning something that someone else wants and the more interest you express the more he wants to keep it. Just a theory, and hey don't we all fix up these old trucks because we have a little of that in us as well.

Looking at those pics of your burb makes me do a double take everytime. It is like we own the exact same suburban. Thinking about it and you propably should have said you wanted to get back all of the original parts from the burb that they weren't going to put back on. I thought of that when I saw a pic of your seats. You have the original seats (in the deluxe cloth no less) which are hard to come by, and I almost bet they are going to toss them and put in modern seats. That will be a shame too because I know there are dozens of guys on this board that could have used them. Maybe you should see if it isn't too lake although I would assume that it is.

Re: Help me Rock My Ride and possibly win $500 for your truck...

I hope that they are saving the parts for me, Harlan. I originally asked them to save any parts that they don't plan to use, and hopefully they will do that. One downside is that they have moved locations and you know that is when things get lost or pitched. Maybe I will try to contact them again in order to see if I can snag the seats. I also had a spare 2nd seat in excellent condition that I picked up at a salvage yard that was sitting in the back. Dumb me was thing that that might need any of the spare parts that I was collecting to fix the truck up and I piled everything in the back. Hmmm....

Thats good that they are suppossed to be keeping the parts for you. Of course with moving and all, like you said things get lost. They also have a tendency when in other peoples posession to get "LOST" as well.

Exactly... They are a custom shop and most likely look at old stock parts as junk anyway. I figured that they were probably not going to keep the stock interior, so I let them know that late model Suburban Interiors (especially leather!) fit these truck pretty well! I was thinking of the lesser evil of that vs. having something velour stitched up!

That's great! Once you get it back you can do a frame off and redo all the suspension if they don't get to that.

That sounds great. I am sure you are thrilled with the update. It at least shows that your Burb is still on their mind.

Re: Help me Rock My Ride and possibly win $500 for your truck...

What they said in that link was very promising...sounds like you or the radio station put a bug in their ear and they want a satisfied customer. (Or they read this thread and thought better of their plans....or that's an april fool's joke and it's still being pimped )

It makes sense to me for them to do a nice restoration on yours with a few subtle mods...you will be happy...they will show the quality of their work, and when you're out there at the shows you're required to attend, you will be sounding their praises, not saying how "clownish" they made your car look

Thanks guys...

I see the update as a promising tidbit of info to make me believe that they are working on it. Hopefully I will get a higher quality update soon.

Re: Help me Rock My Ride and possibly win $500 for your truck...

I have at least a dozen different pictures in my head of what your burb' is gonna end up looking like. After reading that there's a tv and a bar in the back, i'm kinda struck. You know the back windows will be limo tinted with the bar being in it. So, probably some funky lighting for the bar. I'm picturing some kind of weird 2 or 3 toned color design for the interior. I'm praying they fight the urge to put any sort of tribal or weird kustom paint sceme on it, but i don't know. I find myself at work thinking about your ride alot man. We're all anxious with you man.
When it's done and you go to pick it up. Take a dozen cans of flat black with you in case the paint is really lame. That'd tick some people off. Imagine rattle canning their freshly "pimped" burban. haha.

Just a quick blurb from the radio station saying that they are making progress. I was nervous that the shop's website was down for a little while, but I called there and they are open for business...

LOL! That would be a hoot... It would be flat black before even leaving the premises... After reading the update on their website, I almost wonder if they didn't change directions a bit on the custom stuff. I wonder if they went back and considered my input a little bit more seriously? Here is the link

You know, it was almost a year ago that we were voting on this thing...

I think I would be more annoyed than nervous at this point. Unless they are doing a full concourse resto, Id think the truck should be done by now..

I mean nobody's expecting a week long "Overhaulin" but a year is a bit much.

once is done I guess that it will have some great work done, but I would rather pay for it and enjoy my vehicle as I do not have the patience to wait and not know what is going on..

Re: Help me Rock My Ride and possibly win $500 for your truck...

i laughed when i saw their stage 3... that's my stage 1 lol.
But they are a professional shop, so i'm just being picky. I would still very much like to see at least an artists rendition of what they wanted to do to it and what they end up doing to it. I bet if they had their way, the burban would come with xzibit and mad mike in your glove box.
scary thoughts rollin' through my head right now. lol.
A year is quite a long time for a "real" shop to take, but, your patients will be rewarded so greatly in the end i'm sure. If it isn't, at least you know your body work will be all smooth for a respray. lol.
