Re: Daverods 52

Found out my 700r4 was a piece of crap. It's the kind with the small output shaft. Good thing it was only a bill. Think I'll just buy a new rebuilt one. Got a killer deal on some license plates. Picked up enough to do the whole inside of my cab. Hit the money tree with some grow lights. Should be kicking out some bills soon.

I did'nt notice it was the wrong size intill I went a bought a slip yoke for it. Then I noticed the yokr was to big I ran the numbers and it was a 89 with the small shaft. I heard they suck.

The small shaft 700r4's wont work. When you go to take off you'll snap it in half from the tq

Re: Daverods 52

Did some more then I ran out of roof. When I got my truck it did'nt have a linner so I don't know what to do. In need to ancor the plates to sonthing. I was thinking some kind of arched metal brace. I don't want it to rattle though. Maybe every 5 inches or so? It looks like the old liner was foam glued to the roof? Are a dogs balls round or pear shaped ? So many ??

Re: Daverods 52

I wonder how bright it will be in the cab with the reflection off the luminous plates from headlights of oncoming cars OR from the flashing lights of the squad car that has you pulled over.
The dog just wants to fertilize the money tree again...........

Maybe I can get somekinda anti reflective clear paint? I don't know how bad it will be? The flash seems to make it worse than it is.

Re: Daverods 52

You need a 700r4 from a 4.3 or up. 2.8 and smaller motors have the small shaft.

Re: Daverods 52

Another thing to look for is the case with the big 'K', they have supposedly (from what I read) thicker castings in the stressed areas. I found mine behind a 4.3 and rebuilt it for a 5.7.

Did you do it or have it done? How much to rebuild it. I was thinking of just buying a new/rebuilt one. I just looked I see you did it yourself.

Re: Daverods 52

Yep, did it myself... bought a rebuild video, and a Monster in a Box kit and went at it...

Monkey see, monkey do!

Haven't started the truck up yet... so can't say if it works or not... lol.

Cheers,
Ted.

Re: Daverods 52

I priced a 700r4 through Idaho Transmission Warehouse in Idaho Falls and they quoted me a grand to buy one from them with a core or the same price if they rebuild yours. That was about 3 months ago when I talked to them.

Rivit rivit. Who needs a head liner. It's really quite solid. Couple more hours left. Think it'll get my windows tinted.

It's going to glow in there when headlight lights hit it. Is that why your tinting the windows?

Re: Daverods 52

maybe... I think there ia also a paint that stops the reflection. I think by the time the seats are in and I put alittle curtain in the back window it will be ok. Went camping saw a couple cool old trucks. The patina on the orange one was very cool. Much brighter than the pic.

That first picture in post 459 sure looks like a lot of vintage iron there in the background... you did not find anything ???
The cow hide looks like a good seat cover or a fun winter rug in the Tipi
