Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Moved my exhaust hanger further outside the frame to get it to quit hitting the bumper, installed and hookd up my license plate light, hooked up my fuel gauge to the cell. Installed a new dome lamp assembly, needed new wipers so I figured I may as well go back to stock chrome ones so those got installed, also installed new reverse lenses. Tomorrow I clean in preperation for the first car show of the season on Saturday!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Trial fitted a blower and ran into some problems. Belt hits a fan, needs a smaller alternator and throttle rod hits a blower. One day I'll be done.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I went to look at mine and see what had been done......and to be sure it was still there. Getting ready to fit the front cap before blowing it apart and pulling the cab off of the chassis to detail it and refit the engine/transmission.

Don't get me wrong. If I could do the work, I would. This was paid for a couple or three years ago. There's a lesson in here, somewhere.....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I took off the original mirrors since im gonna run 71-72 mirrors. I heard the backplate clank on the inside of the door( I had no idea the mirrors had a backplate) i sanded and primed the spot where the mirrors were. Removed the door panels and recovered the backplates. First time taking off the door panels, Pretty neat experience.

Drove about 50 feet and sounds like the tranny S.T.B. I just replaced the rear end too. I feel your pain Tim.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove it for the first time in the dark. Discovered that my instrument cluster lights are indeed bright enough to see by, and then noticed that I have no high beams. Clicking the floor dimmer reveals darkness

Got some used tires a couple days ago (had the original 1968 tires on it) and have been driving it about 50 miles a day for 3 days. All sorts of things are starting to work and run smoother. (Funny what happens after you get a vehicle moving again after sitting for a few years. )

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally sprung for a pair of new wind wings for the front doors.
Put them in today, and just finished putting everything back together.

What a PITA!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finished cleaning up, painting, and putting back together 2 sets of heads, a set of 3487's and a set of 882's. Cleaned up the garage some from my mess. Tomorrow morning before we go for a long motorcycle ride with friends, I am going to put the 9th coat of varnish on the 56 Lyman topsides.

Picked up a new set of wheels for the kid's GMC and then heading out tomorrow for some tires. Good thing is, for the next 6 months any truck parts I buy I can blame on his rig. LOL

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed new rotor/cap, plugs & wires.

flanged a broken tranny cooler line and quick fixed it with some cooler hose.
(left me on the highway...) ordering some prebent lines pretty quick.
