Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
I keep getting called out to work so I haven't had much time to work on Alice. I decided to move the accuair valve block because the airlines were going to look bad where it was mounted so I had to add some length to the harness. I still haven't mounted the ride height sensors yet.
I moved the Dakota digital modules behind the glove box over to straighten out some of the wiring and make some room. I am supposed to have the rest of the Dakota digital stuff that was back ordered today. I got the 4 core radiator brackets and they were too big. I ended up using the 2 core brackets with some modifications. I started working on the vintage air, got the condenser mounted. The fire wall panels are over at my dads so he can get them painted. Im kind of in a holding pattern with the Dakota digital stuff and the vintage air. I need the firewall panels before I can do much more with the vintage air, plus I don't want to get it completely done before I finish up all the wring. I did find some front seats that should be here soon too. |

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
I got my problems figured out, it was the connectors on the relays. Every time I would push the connector onto the relay, the internal connectors would slide out of place. I ended up not using them and used some individual connectors instead. Everything works as advertised, all the lights work properly, the accessory (radio) stays on until one of the doors open and the dome light dims. Here is a video of the dome light.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Thank you
I got the front ride height sensors installed and then I broke the tap I was using. Just about that time the UPS man came and dropped off my ac compressor so I went ahead and got in put in. Looks like I am going to have some long hoses. Last edited by blfuller123; 01-29-2014 at 09:36 PM. |

I finished up mounting the ride height sensors, got the wire run for them and mounted the valve block mounted and the air lines cut. I have a little more to tidy up the wiring, but the hard part is done. The valve block is going under the tank, the tank is pushed back in the picture. I think I am going to do the tank in the color match bed liner like the floor. Was looking at the ac compressor and I have run into a problem. It fits, but there is no adjustment once the line is installed. If it goes toward the drives side, the line will hit the master cylinder, and if it goes to the passenger side, it hits the valve cover. I think I am going to take off the lug on the compressor and see if that works out, the only other option that I can think of is to change the master cylinder and I really don't want to do that. |

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
VA has a compressor with the ports on the back that might help.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Does March make an idler with a spring tensioner built in that would go in place of the idler below the compressor? Seems to me GM had that on some serpentine applications. The tensioners had a 1/2" square hole in the front that a ratchet, or a breakover bar fit in to un-tension it.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Just did my own Gen IV Surefit system install not sure if this helps much with your fitment curiosity but i found a little room in the glove box for paperwork and fuses/electrical tape. hopefully not much more than ill ever need on the road (knock on wood) but I enjoy the system everywhere else. the glove box space is a let down but that's what i got my classic console bench console for anyway right?
Build is looking amazing btw I've missed out on so much. I'd be sure to mount up the whole unit first and run your heater/a/c lines before permanently mounting all your elctrical boxes/relays though. it does get tight in there quick
