Wow, bet that was an exhausting day in 117 heat. Good progress under tough conditions!

It was definitely warm yesterday Wayne.
Got a new job bud.. this one is a perm. position..
Less time to work on my own stuff.. but now money to spend on parts.. :-)

Friday wasn't too bad as it's the first day off of my 3 day weekend. Grind right through it. Yesterday, still hotttttttt. Keep moving, Today, having a hard time getting up the gumption to go back out there even though it is gingerly getting hotter as I type. Oh well, "Winters here are awesome".

Good news on the new job Chris. Hopefully you can now spend time on your projects other than customer stuff.

Wee once again no pics. Not hardly worth the effort. I did get the radiator & power steering all filled up. Got the timing close. Hit the key & he fires right up. Uncapped headers sounds good.

Well, wish me luck boys. I have got old Homer where he will start up so this coming weekend my goals are to bleed/hookup/configure all brake lines to it will be able to stop. Next I want to install some shocks which will include installing/fabricating shock towers. Then I need to install the door seals and latch mechanizims do the doors will stay shut. Then, hopefully, I will be able to put Homer in gear and actually have him move on his own power. I started this project last December and to date he's never moved on his own yet. Hopefully (should) this weekend he goes into the truck category and out of the project category. My thought is that it's got to be able to start, drive to the corner, turn around and drive back on it's own to make the switch.
Should not be a problem to make it, but it's never as easy as it sounds.

Yeah, you and me both Pat. Only thing holding me back now is the brake line and shock mounts. So much easier to get to.
Heck, might even be able to start assembling the bed too. Ha. I always want to get 10 things done, and only get 4 but you gotta keep moving forward.

I know exactly what you mean on only getting 4 things done..things always take longer then planned...

Thanks Chris. Yeah I will be out there in the heat too but 106* sounds great compared to the 117* last Friday. Never in a million years thought I would ever say 106* sounds great, but comparatively it does.
I might stop by this weekend if I go out for parts over your way. Good excuse to cool off in the trucks AC. Like to check out your project anyway.

Well Fella's it finally happened. Old Homer finally moved under his own power. Back about 10', then forward about the same, about 5 times. Brakes feel like I need to work on them a bit more. Transmission feels like it can stand some more fluid now that it has been into drive and reverse a few times, but, he finally moved.
For those of you who have been following along on my snails pace (seems like) build it has almost been 8 months to the day since I loaded him onto a trailer and hauled him 450 miles home.
FINALLY, almost see a distant light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it's not a train.

Thanks for all the kind words to all of you.i really appreciate it. I finally drove Homer out of the backyard and around the block. Gotta Lotta work left to go, but that was a HUGE milestone.

I literally never post, but that is one very cool truck. Awesome work. 8 months is a jet fighter's pace, FYI! Great work! Awesome color. Very bold build. It looks incredible.

If you were to go any slower there would already be 10K miles put on it. I can't begin to imaging taking on a build such as this, great work. And I am digging the color.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I am really falling in love with the color combination too.

Thanks 71Sleeper. I guess it's just an internal clock thing with me. Seems like I have been on this project FOREVER. Might be the 115* weather we been having too. Been the hottest summer ever recorded in Phoenix AZ this year. Me outside under my shade structure with a portable swamp cooler trudging away.
I think another issue that keeps bugging me about time is I was busy working on a 63 SWB fleetside when I found Homer. I also have a 67 Nova drag car that is closer to being done than Homer is currently that got pushed aside. Add to that my 67 Chevelle street car is currently down needing new fan controllers installed.
It's almost overwhelming sometimes. I don't want to pull off of Homer or he will become another one that is close, but no cigar.
