On your contour problem from I can see, I'd use a little heat and hammer and dolly it to where it needs to be. Just a thought.

I might even make a relief cut so I could move it to where I need it to be.

I think it just needs that in the area above the two holes, where it meets the firewall... Nothing big though.

I would relieve the firewall and dolly everything into place (I would watch someone relieve the firewall and dolly it into place...I know my limitations)

Do I look like I've logged any miles on the treadmill? Like all good excercise equipment it just gets moved from one place to the other and collects dust. At least they don't have clothes hanging from them like the stuff at the house.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Got some new patch panels in the mail today... I never would have thought that I would look to Minnesota for rust free metal... A board member was scraping a cab and took the time to cut these out for me... Thanks again Brent (brossow)...
Now I just have to decide how much am I gonna cut out of my cab. I don't want to go to far on this project ya know...

Just started reading this thread, it's a shame they don't make cabs new like they do the 69 camaros or you'd be driving that thing already.

It's only a matter of time and I bet they will. Don't know that i'd spend the money though. They already make 47-55 shells for $9K!

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
SO I measured everything I could and the floor seems to be within 1/8" of center, whatever that is. I started noticing how asymetrical the firewall is. One side has 3/4" reveal with the kickpanel, below the vent area, and the other has 1 1/4" reveal... So I did my best and we'll see how the doors fit before I pull the bracing out and weld it for good.
So here's a closeup of the area behind the gas pedal. If anyone has a floor exposed could you look at yours and see if their is a "lip" where the floor meets the firewall? If I decide to adjust it then i'm gonna slice the firewall and even it up. No big deal either way.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Worked on the driver side kick panel, wow...these suckers really have some bends to them... I don't think you could replace the entire piece without the rockers and some other pieces removed.... My cutoff wheel took a bit of a wrong turn near the firewall and i'm gonna have to fill in a 3/16" gap now. I needed to get this piece in before the firewall patch can be made.
How much of a gap should there be below the kick panel and the floor? I know that it's not a precision fit and it will get some seam sealer before primer. The main A-pillar support post is pretty rusty, I might spray some POR up inside it before everything gets sealed up.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
thanks for those pics, but my firewall is original. 67-68 firewalls are different than 69-72, I guess that's one more difference. I also know that this floor replacement was modeled from a 68 as well....
It's only metal, i'll make it fit...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
thanks, it doesn't happen very quickly unless you have $20K sitting in the bank, which I don't....
I just chip away at it, sell items for profit and buy more things for my truck. Also get a monthly allowance from the wifey to help out... not much but it keeps things moving forward..

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
NOt much going on with the build lately... I did pick up some parts from Willnik (terry) at Carlisle. Also picked up a frame adapter for my power steering. Gonna have to wwait till the cab is back on to align and drill it though.
I now have 8 wing vents and extra glass! Most are tinted and in decent shape. I just need to pick a set to rebuild and sell the rest. Not sure if I want chrome or original balck though.... Cleaned up the PS box and noticed it leaks at the input... might try to change the seal out but I have read that it sucks to do... Like the orange U-bolts? I need to clean them up and change the leaf plates for mysay bar anyway... I didn't paint them just in case I needed some zero rate leafs or found a sway bar...
