Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
That is a clean looking truck. I would have never guessed frame rot associated to it..

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
PO was an over the road trucker. He didn't have a garage so put it in one of those canvas shelters with a dirt floor. I think between the moisture coming up from the ground and not getting drivin often enough to dry it out helped it's demise. Funny thing is the bottom pinch weld of the tailgate is rust free yet door bottoms are gone. I can break pieces of the frame off by hand from A pillar back to rear axle . All 4 wheels are new and upper control arms within last two years due to rust.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
Still plugging away at the frame swap on my blue truck but now there's no pressure to finish it anytime soon. Picked up another truck last week - a 1994 Silverado 2500 with a 350, 14 bolt rear and every option known to man. No rust Alberta truck with only 160,000 kms - just needs a few new front end parts and a new windshield. Should tow a lot better than my old blue 1994 1/2 ton with a worn out 305.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
This thread is looking a little stagnant so I will post my new change. I had installed aux. backup lights a couple years ago to allow me to see while launching and retrieving my boats at night. I used regular tractor lights that were common at any parts store. Recently the left side bulb burned out ,it is three years old but has an hr. of time on it at best. I decided to upgrade to some LED'S off E-Bay and can't believe how much brighter they are. This shows the difference I did change both.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
That is some serious lighting. I like how everyone around you has the typical (for today) black/dark vehicle, while you stand out within the crowd.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
My daughter has the blacked out Silverado and the Jeep is my wife's winter ride. She has a silver Mustang convert for nice weather. The new color is different enough to get attention wherever I go these days.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
i replaced my head lights, front turn signals and corner marker lights with a more modern looking style. i also replaced all the bulbs in the tail lights and back up lights with L.E.D.s. Then i replaced the fuel tank straps as the rear strap rusted through and my fuel tank almost dropped out from under my baby.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
yea, what sparked the whole light thing was i got pulled over by a cop in front of me one night because she said my lights weren't bright enough..................... problem solved, my new head lights have the ultra white bulbs in them. and all the other lights are LEDs as i said before.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
Started out doing the 4-Hi mod, and ended up removing the grille and lights as the passenger headlight and core support were damaged by a deer prior to purchase.
The circled area's are where the core support is bent from the deer. Not bad considering what a deer did to my S10 years ago. I'm going to pull this back out and line it all bad up. You can see here the lower tab is broken off of the headlight. The next two pics you can see the other damage to the light. The pins that you remove to pull the headlight are both damaged to the point they just spin and I couldn't remove the headlight. Which is what led to the grille coming off. So I'm now looking for new headlights, matching turn signals (as the ones I have now are getting water inside) and I'm thinking of a new grille while I'm at it. May even put the 20" LED light bar behind the grille too.

Finished bleeding the second brand new master cylinder after the first was bad and finally drove my new disk rear brake setup. It was glorious.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
Bought a bumper off craigslist for $50. The next day went to local junkyard that had GMT400's everywhere, and bought Bumper filler, tow hooks, and air dam for $60. $110 well spent to get the front en looking spiffy as ever!!
picked up some H2 wheels. Listed the stock steelies for sale and someone came and boughtthem right off the truck before i could blink. So i had to buy new tires for the H2s. Went with 265-70-17 Cooper Discoverer. Got the center caps off craigslist today for $10. Im very happy with the look!!!! |

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??
Replaced my rear bumper after turning with a trailor too far and bending it up. Also added a tow hitch to prevent future bent bumpers lol. Also installed junkyard oem sunvisor rod as I'm tired of replacing the LMC rod every 6 months. The porsche tire compressor I had installed for my rear helper bags died so I'm piecing together a Mercedes air ride pump to replace it as well.
