Like the truck as well as the '56 Chevys behind it. I've owned a few through the years.

Re: GM Semis

1971 C60, 427, 5&4. Custom cab, air brakes, twin screw, factory built to be a dump truck. (so wheel base was orginal) Custom paint. Factory red truck, white 2-tone added. The white went up the center burge in the hood. It was broken up with gold pin stripe.

I think these pictures are from the 1985 time frame. The truck was replaced by a diesel Mack around 1992 as the business grew. Last time I knew, someone in nothern Missouri owned the truck...

I learned to drive large trucks on this one... An old time truck driver taught me the correct way to shift both transmissions at the same time.

If anyone sees or knows the current location of this truck, I would be interested in seeing it again. No interest in purchasing it, just to see it a relive a few memories. The truck should be pretty close to rust free as it was never used in the winter till we bought it (around 1984-5) and we only used it breifly as a plow truck. We kept the plow when we sold it. The cutouts in the bumper were added by the first owner. We only sold it because the diesel truck got so much better fuel mileage... I think the truck only had 200K on it in 92 and had a new motor and clutch. I think it was going to be a grain hauler, so it would not suprise me that it is sitting in some barn awaiting the next harvest.

Re: GM Semis

Hello out there! I am new to this forum and I just want to share my project with y'all...I have recently acquired a 1964 GMC 6500...everything you see in the pics is original, it was kept in a barn for over 40 years...from what I have learned, this is a pretty rare truck...and my wish was to find a old school truck that I wouldn't see on the road...mission accomplished! I have shared a few pics to see how beautiful he is...right now his name is BigBEN...that will probably change once I make all the changes and upgrades...I see there is a couple of guys in here who can appreciate such a truck...my goal is to find someone in here that has one like mine or know someone who does...and to provide some recent photos...its one of the coolest trucks I ever laid my eyes upon...enjoy!

Thanks for sharing,I agree, from what I have observed over the years, the very high GVW units in that body style have low production numbers. The giveways of spotting a high GVW unit are the large rear axle, large ivory steering wheel and larger front bumper.

Re: GM Semis

The above picture pretty much explains why I don't go to those shows. I've actually never been. Seen some in parking lots on show which was cool, but that's about it.

Re: GM Semis

My first experience with destruction was at Demolition Derbys in the late 60's. When I was a kid, I'd watch them on TV and thought they were cool, but when I was 16, I actually went to one at a local track. I had a '62 Impala at the time and what was in the Derby, but a '62 Impala. Some of the parts on the Derby car was better than mine and I had plans to go and ask the guy after the race if he wanted to sell some parts off of his destroyed car. All through the race I keep saying "Oh No"!! "Watch out for my parts"!! Well, before the race was over, what I was hoping for got destroyed. From then on, I always had a different out look on those type of events.

Even a few years ago, I made a deal on a '70 Impala parts car. The guy wanted the engine and trans and I was to get the rest. When I called the guy back, he had some kind of goofy story about what happened to the car. Coincidently the Monster Trucks were in town, just down the road from where the car was at. I believe I know what happened to the car...

Well, that would have been a good load for a Tandem Axel C-90.
