Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thank you Dale!
just went threw another bloodbath with the dentist, 6 shots today, & the distinction of having the largest filling ever at their office (whoopee) they re-filled it after grinding out the half of the old filling that did'nt break off... on the plus side i dont need to see her 'till next yr, used up almost all my dental ins for this yr i really want to get going on a suburban, & the only model that will fit my blazer, is another blaze, the MPC Rescue Blazer. with our buck in the crapper, cheapest one online was $45 all said & done to my door, so went to the hobby shop instead (50 mile round trip) $28 with tax, & $10 fuel in the wifey's envoy, not much different than online, except now i'm getting ripped-off face to face instead of electronically .....anyways, massive wind storm when we get there, branches & trees falling all over, no traffic signals anywhere, accidents at every second intersection, make it to the model store, standing in line with a blaze (one guy ahead of me) & the flippin' power goes out-bam! thats it, no more sales. clerk would'nt even take my cash, even after i told her she could keep the change. jeez! had it in my hand, this close <>, so i'm waiting till next weekend to try again (their hrs & my work dont kosher) guess i'll jump on the ECSB aGain... did manage to snag this for $10 off CL, my other case is past full & out of room. i had to add an extra glass shelf, thinking i mite change all the shelfs to glass, as well as add a few more. and when building the '55, i kept finding parts that i needed & did'nt know i had & ordered more so right now i'm in day 3 of a massive reorganization & inventory of 25 yrs of parts. finding all kinds of stuff- thought i was out of side mirrors, found 9 sets so far..... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
turned out i had 14 sets of side mirrors.....
tried the hobby shop run today & made it in there, finally got my rescue blaze. took my glue bomb blazer apart & threw it in the stripper. who ever painted this box of trucks.....grrrr....all day & only the black on the roof is coming off.... bit of a jigsaw to cut apart, i'll wait 'till the other blaze is out of the stripper so i can double, triple, quadruple check.... haft to leave cab 1 roof long cause of the window slope on cab 2, wheelwells needs to be closer to rear doors, & i'll cut & re-glue a section of the 3/4 window to shorten it up to the right length |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
while i'm waiting on the stripper, started farting around with the ecsb.
"frame" was the ext-cab dually, so it needs to be shortened. molded in fake motor has to go....as does the a arms couple hrs later here's where i am, will salvage the fuel tank. need to put a floor on the bottom of the box so i can start making the rear frame going for the street 4x4 look with this. cowl hood, roll pan, pre-runner bar & a monochromatic paint job |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
well after a couple days in the stripper, the red blaze is not red anymore....in fact it's not even a blazer now....
decided to cut it a different way, & move the wheelwells |

Man, that's simply an amazing transformation. Looks great. You got a lot done while I was up north and off the grid.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
off the grid, you mean up at the cabin? (lucky dawg...)
actually thought i was pretty slow on these 2, been clocking big hrs for the winter... most of the major body work is there, 'cause it's a snap-tite, there's no motor, so i half to cut the hood off & make a rad support, firewall, & inner fenders, not too bad, big prob is figuring out how to mount the int tub- it snaps onto the bottom of the hood.... and remember them spring thingy's i got out of the wifey's window regulator? i'm thinking no leaf springs on the ECSB (think coilovers...) |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Yes the cabin, no landline or cell = off the grid. Only TV is dvd. My kids call it camping with a bathroom and a pool table. If you and the family ever get this way I'll take ya to gods country. With all the ctting and fitting...I think you're doing fine. Recycled coil overs will be cool

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
sounds pretty sweet Dale! nothing wrong with camping with a pool table....
have'nt gotten around to cutting the hood off the sub yet, needed a break from bodywork.... some rear susp work on the ecsb...the links & panhard i'll finish to length once the axle is in the truck need somewhere to mount the links, just started on them, gas tank is fixed & mounted, rear frame is in, just glued the crossmember for the coilovers in, thats what the twist tie is |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
the motor for the ecsb came out of a '89 firebird GTA glue bomb that one of the wife's fellow employee's son had attempted to build. seen a lot of weird stuff on gluebombs, but this is a first for me....(to the builders credit, only 8 yrs old...)
and yeah, thats the oil filter glued to the exhaust manifold.... kid used a tube of glue on the motor, was pretty rough, had to strip the valve covers, but was able to save the tpi. headers are from a chevelle, still needs wiring and plumbing and 4 links are time consuming to build....stared at it for about 6 hrs.... making hyd steering for it right now body has some minor touch-ups, then hopefully in the next couple days get some paint on it [ |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
It's looking great, the four links look real. In the light primer it looks like the truck I got last Friday only mine is a totally stock 97 k1500 extended cab Z71

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thats prob what my next d. driver will be, my '90 stepper is starting to show her age, but want an ex-cab this time, reg cabs on these trucks are useless with a fam. '98 is about as new as i'll go for a dd.
finished up the motor in the frame paint was delayed a few days. lost one mirror, no prob, got 14 sets....of old style mirrors....needing something more modern to match the truck, cut these off the glue bomb ford i have, cut out the chevy mounts & molded these into their place |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
added hydro steering, the hoses go up to a scratched orbital valve, & scratched steering box. still need to add the fr brake lines
got the back ones in tho t-case is a borg unit i added some styrene to so it mite resemble a 241. once the body is on, i'll add a tailpipe just painted- no clear. wow, they were'nt kidding when they said "shimmering metallic blue" i literally had silver flakes floating everywhere when i sprayed it.... mite be a little too metallic-e, when you hold the light on it, looks like something that belongs on a '70's cobra or sidewinder boat.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
also got around to chopping off the hood. left a piece of the orig. hood under the window, then ground it down
here's something you dont see enuff of now-a-days.... hood from the glue bomb blaze, obviously a orig. '79 issue rescue blaze not starting anything, but i'm pretty sure the re-issue blaze i bought is from "c" land, & though the orig. is 36 yrs old, i like it better. detail is sharper, body lines & dimensions are better, & the plastic feels "harder". the "c" hood warps way easier (and they got the cowl vents wrong.....) |

so are you ready to just move up there yet? we went out to the back country ourselves there on sat stopped by coldwater creek, every time you moved, chipmunks would scatter, like a huge pack of rats they were pretty ballsy, scampered right up to my son and got a rough frame thrown together for the sub |
