Yeah...pb blaster is great....but these are spinning already so that won't help here....plus they're so rusty I'd never re-use so I'll just cut them out. I have new ones ready to go in and the new rad support so not trying to take too long saving this scrap metal

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Anyone have a clue what vehicle this radiator came from? It's skinny but fits the opening well other than the upper brackets that don't mount to anything of course...thinking of taking those off and re-using it....or option 2 is an ebay aluminum radiator since they can be had for 149 and look much more expensive

Here were some of my tools, the box i put parts in, and the bolt container (old grapefruit container I also used a separate old drink mix container for engine specific hardware to keep it separate.

Looks just like my old motor which is a 307 with the two barrel carb. I wonder how much they would sale for? I also have to find a new inner finder for my pass side because of the battery acid rust. Just haven't decided to try and find one that is in better shape then mine or just buy 2 new repops. Your battery tray looks to be in good shape though. Good luck with the front end swap I always favored the 67/68 front. Going to look good.

Haven't pulled all the codes but almost EVERYTHING looks original on the engine....air cleaner, carb, intake, manifolds, alt, rad hoses, clamps, water pump.....

Not sure, but it runs great with no weird noises, no smoke, and good power.

I take them on and off as needed. Seems every time I take them off I slice a finger Plus, my wife likes my hands slightly less scratchy than sandpaper....so I need to keep the gloves on

I understand what you mean about slicing fingers when working on these old trucks. I use to be in construction work for many yrs. but have had a desk job for a few years now. Need less to say my hands are a lot softer now. It seems like I can just reach down and pull the oil dip stick out and get sliced with these powder puff hands now.

Same problem here. Too many years behind a desk and not enough actually working with my hands. I never used to need gloves but now I can't do jack without cutting myself. I'm working on fixing that problem. No more desk job, back to being a machinist again.

It runs great so I'm going to clean it, paint it, and install new plug wires (already have them) and some new hoses, and a belt (and possibly power steering if I find the correct bracket in time)
