Sorry I haven't been on in a couple of days- deer hunting. I attached them through the holes for the rallies from the back side. I still have to do my rear ones- so I will get some pics. The holes were large enough to use an impact on the original lug nuts which I like.

I used three #14-3/4 inch hex head machine screws that have a 3/8 socket head. I went through the 3 larger holes from the back side that the original caps were attached by and snugged them up with an air ratchet. They lined up well.

Last nite I removed all of the rear brakes down to the backing plates. Going to replace shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders, flex hose, brake lines, axle seals and differential gasket this weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I dropped my gas tank to change the sending unit and to my surprise, My tank is out of a boat. I tore the sending unit apart and the po has tried to solder it to fix it. After two hours of calling and driving around town I ran out of luck. I got online and ordered one. I will post the company after I have it and know it works. The units for boats have a 35-290 ohm reading and is attached with a 5 screw pattern. At least I know I can take it to the lake

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Good news, bad news

Good news: I finally installed my rear window.
Bad news: My truck got kicked out of the garage so my wife can park there.

I knew as soon as the window went in the truck went out. That's why I wasn't in any hurry. But it's been pretty cold (that's Bay Area cold) in the mornings latetly so I have to give the wife a break.

Next up. Get the heater working.

Installed a new Extang full tilt tonneau. Got it from Jegs. Good price and great shipping to Canada. Installed it at -10 ....yup I am Canadian.

Supposed to snow like crazy tonight so I am happy I will not have a box full of snow. Also looks great.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I had a 40' storage container delivered and set at my shop today. I spent the afternoon organizing parts in the container and making room for two restoration projects we are getting ready to start.

1. 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside with factory running gear, 283 & SM420. This one will be named BIGRED66. I will start a build thread in a few days.

2. 1966 Chevy K20 lwb fleetside with factory running gear, 283 & SM420. This one will be named BIGBLUE66. I will start a build thread in a few days.

I will have high speed internet by tomorrow evening, so photos will no longer be a problem.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

About $90.00 per month or $2,500.00 to purchase outright. Best thing for secure storage of '60-'66 Chevy/GMC truck parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I started the Burb and let it run for about 20 minutes, let it get up to temp, get the moisture out of the exhaust. Once it starts to get cold she gets parked crossways in the back of the garage so I can get my driver inside, I hate scrapping ice. Plus the Burb has no heater so driving would not be so enjoyable in the Ohio winter. I've considered jacking her up, putting in gear and let the tranny get some heat. The danger factor has always won out so I pass on this. I can just see explaining to the insurance man how my stored truck drove thru the side of my garage.

Back on the Battery Tender waiting for spring.

Get some jack stands under it so there's compression on the suspension. Make sure it's stable & you'll be good to go for the winter 'maintenance' during hibernation.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I put new ebrake cables on mine. I moved it out of the garage for a little better light. I was cutting it close on the second one. Man, I was worried I was going to be working in the dark AND cold! But...got her done!

kiknrocks, that's a clean looking truck!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The Good news
My Drive line went to The Drive line service of Idaho to get shortened and balanced. NAPA has a new transmission detent cable ordered for me and should be here tomorrow.
The Bad news
It was a crisp 14*F this morning and I am having a hard time getting motivated to work on my truck in the cold!

bought and installed a air filter for my I6. Added another gallon of gas to the tank and started her up and let her run for 5 minutes. Was going to mount my tranny cooler with new lines but it is raining today

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

OLERD66 will be back on the road againg soon. We are finishing her up to make room for a '66 Chevy K20 project we are starting. We have a list of approximately 30 items, that need to be done, to complete the project.

The grille support and front fenders noses will have the black background and white ring painted on them, before final assembly.

Good for you taking the extra time. It just doesn't look original or restored without the black background and white ring.
