Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto

Thanks for following along guys. I was able to break away this morning for some solo country road driving around my house. I snapped a few photos with the steelies in place.

Thanks a bunch Troy. The light was sort of mixed with bright sun and shade shifting across the fields.

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto

Thanks guys. Trying to have a few last hurrahs ahead of winter. And get the tower clamps from leaking. And get the speedometer to read accurately. Builds never end I guess.

Pat the tires are 33 x 10.5 BFG ATs - the recent iteration thereof. I like the way they fill the wheel well and provide a little height that compliments the stock height of the springs.

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto

Looks awesome Pete ! I hope to see it sometime down in Columbus Ohio at the Good Guys show. Myself & Tom,Aka LKs devn and Gary 70 Jimmy are all out this way. A few guys I’ve seen from Michigan come to the show but I forgot their screen name. Dewayne is not to far away I’ve been out his way for the swap meet . I’d hope to see him out this way but I’d have to find a scrap K5 for him to take back to Pa first lol...

Whoa Pete! You can't beat the look of those factory steelies and hub caps!

15x8's with 33x10.5s on stock height/suspension right? No rubbing or clearance issues I take it? I still have my original 15x6 steelies and have wondered if I can go as big as 33x10.5s.

Awesome work!

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto

Thanks guys!

Would be a blast to meet in Columbus. I'll see if I can make it happen. Yep, factory lift with 33 x 10.5's - no rub at all. I do know that some guys have installed this size tire on 6" wheels. In fact, there is a several year old thread that discusses this and has pics.

I've got the Blazer tucked in for the winter. Sigh.

Read through this thread with a different perspective now that I have some sliders to rebuild. Do you have any info you can provide on the process you took to rebuild them?

I've rebuilt pickup slider windows but not the blazer examples. The double pane K5 sliders are essentially the same but unlike OEM pickup examples frames may be welded not scrwed together. Here's a thread I started on the subject that hopefully helps: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=559651

Am I correct that there are 2 styles of rear sliders in your earlier pictures?

Yes there were two styles. One with a single mobile pane of glass. The other had two mobile panes similar to the OEM slider for a pickup.

Thanks Ryan! The top end of the motor had to be rebuilt this past summer as one of the valves keepers broke. 2020, sigh. Hoping for many fun miles ahead in 2021.

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto

I am a little confused about one thing, on your 1st post with the SPID it shows its a "Cheyenne Equipment" but later I see on the door photos it has a CST emblem, why is that?

Also, how do you find all this NOS GM stuff LOL

Rich72,

All the CST Blazers with have the Cheyenne code listed on the SPID. Technically the CST is the Cheyenne version for the Blazers.

I would like to know the answer to your question about how Pete can find all those NOS goodies also 😊.

Ah, see I learned something about Blazers - thank you sir. Now if we can use his time machine to get parts, that would be great.

Re: 1972 Medium Blue Highlander Blazer Resto

It’s a sickness and Ken has been helpful in feeding my bad habits My Blazer build kicked off immediately prior to the birth of my daughter. My activities were relatively limited after her arrival and that allowed me screen time to scrounge for parts across the web. The GM parts catalog is a helpful resource as having the correct part number can alleviate a lot of hassle.

Recently a friend sold me a set of NOS bucket seat covers that are now in 521 GM white. My plan is to swap these in come spring. The second photo compares one of the NOS seat backs (first and third photos) to a repro piece - there’s a difference in grain pattern.

I’m also going to see if the GM seat belt retractors are worth a darn in keeping the loose rear seat belts a bit tidier. The horns were restored this fall and will be bolted into place this spring.

Eric thanks a ton. Here’s an end of the season shot after the top end engine rebuild due to a bad valve keeper. Looking forward to a lot of seat time come spring.
