Very cool! Have you seen the 57 napco promo? It would be cool to do a video with a some kind of filter to make it look old then add the narration from an old video like that. Unless you know somone that talks like that because that would work too. Lol

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build

Went ahead and installed the goose neck hitch so that I can convert our 5th wheel to a goose neck. I prefer towing with a goose neck rather than 5th wheel. Hated to cut a hole in my bed but it is after all a truck and my tow vehicle. I will be installing a bed mat to finish this job.

Randal,

Was the rear section of your frame originally a trailing arm 2wd set up? I never paid attention to that until now. I noticed how the frame rails kick out right where you installed your hitch.

I'm not trying to speak for him, but yeah. That's exactly what it is.

Cool. When I get the bed off my brothers 3/4T 2WD Leaf truck I want to compare it to my 3/4T 2WD Trailing arm frame... see how interchangeable they are. I really like your hitch set up.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build

Well I made the mistake of believing the person that I bought the original motor from that I put into my crew cab who said that it was JUST rebuilt and had sat for a few years. Low and behold I noticed some oily smoke coming out of the tailpipe when compression braking downhill while towing. So I decided to have a set of heads built for it assuming it was just old valve seals and I was going to take this opportunity to sneak in a performer manifold and edelbrock carb as well as an electronic ignition distributor. When I pulled my heads off I noticed that things were not as they should be, ie) the ring ridge was screaming 150,000 miles.....so I now have a new motor that I know is new with an RV cam, new carb, new manifold and ignition. Can't imagine how much better this truck is going to tow considering it had done a good job with a worn out motor.

PS Let me save you the trouble it is corporate GM blue because I can't stand Chevy orange motors.

Very nice Randall. Sorry to hear about the tall tales on the original engine.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build

Randall, The engine looks great, but if you are going to use the Edelbrock carb they make real clean banjo fitting chrome line that goes straight down from the fuel fitting them forward to almost meet up with the steel line you have coming up from the fuel pump. It is easier to fit the air cleaner and it eliminates a bunch of the rubber hose. If you need the part number or to borrow one until you can get it call me.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build

Hey guys, wanted you to know I've been busy with a new build. Try to put it under trucks but since I am using a C50 cab but with a 3/4 ton frame it got moved to heavy haulers. Here is a quick pic and the link over to that forum page. Please take a look if you get a chance

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build

That crew cab looks amazing! I love the colors and the steel wheels!

I´m still looking for a Chevy or GMC K20 with a manual transmossion myself, between 68 and 72. No luck finding a good one yet though!

I just added your truck as my desktop background!
