Got both doors hung today and driver side fender....Went pretty easy, had to adjust the hinges a little....Some how i forgot to tighten them on the cab
 and took me a while to catch it....lol....It was just enough to throw everything off....But bout 30 mins a side i got em..Fender went on with out a hitch....As i did the Drill bit trick .....Driver Latch is in and through out the week i will clean and Paint,re-grease as needed.....Anyways i was and am kinda excited it is starting to look like a truck again so i took a grap load of pics... |

Kevin there are quiet a few....And i am no master yet. Just recently have i become comfortable spraying it...But i know a few tricks....Get the panel clean.....I cant stress that enough..Once you think you have it clean...Clean it two more times....If its contaminated in any way dirt..Oil,left over degreaser it will expload everywhere...Contamination is one of the biggest factors....2nd seal before you spray it....There should be NO metal showing...After all it is water....2 coats is max..Temps. it should be 80-90 degrees in the booth...Alot of moisture will take it days to dry.......Oh and forget everything you know about spraying base.....Or any techniques you have....They wont work....lol....fun isnt it....Oh get ready to be amazed on how it lays down....It lays down flat which is good....And when the clear hits it ( its still solvent based clears) ...You can really see the difference between water and solvent bases....My attitude before i sprayed water was...Paint is Paint....who ever made it had no effect on me....Either you can Paint or not....Water really makes you question your ability ....But once you get it its awesome...And going back to solvent....Its cake now......Its really a great Product....And i think Speice has it figured out ...

No color sanding at all....Hell soap and hot water will take the paint right off.....You could nib a little dirt spec here and there....But if its not perfect....Better bake it and start over....

Got the passenger side Fender bought yesterday and Hung today.....There are some minor tweaking i need to do to get it the way i want.And i need to move the core support/fender mounts......And i need to ream the two top holes to allow it to come down about an 1/8 inch...But for right out of the box i am totally happy with it.....Its a Gordon Part....And seems to be built very well.......Any ways hope for the A.M is to ream the holes and fit the cowl panel..And if the weather is warm enough Edge the Fender in....If not i will just take it to work Monday....Then fit the hood......Although i need to go to the local sand blaster and do my Hood hinges....They are in need of some paint stripped ..As i have at least 2 coats of B/C...C/C that i have done....Anyways here are a few pics....

THey had a story on that WaterBorne paint on Trucks today... How does it affect price for a paintjob? Started getting me thinking about stock color with BC/CC process... It would shine like no stock 68 chevy ever did wouldn't it?

That it would..It is a far better paint(base) IMO....The colors are Brighter,and deeper IMO..And unlike most paints....It lays down flatter....As far as cost, water born Vs solvent........I will have to check......I got all my paint from work.....So a Employee discount was given, And taxes were waived.....I would assume its close to urethane, as in our shop costs and rates have not gone up.......
Edit: i just watched the Trucks episode with him Spraying Water....He did a great job.......Although i will say Him saying its easier,could not be father from the truth....The way you spray is totally different.....And he sprayed it exactly like you would solvent...Not the way we do it.But it seemed to work for him?..We do a piss coat and then full cover.... 2 coats being Max..... Was a little slow this A.M at work so i got my passenger side fender finished....There was a few dents i had to fix along with some i had to make in the tweaking stage. Got those pulled and glazed,along with a good coat of Primer...Let that bake for for about 45 mins and i started prepping to edge the inside....Got 2 coats of base and 2 coats of clear....Also got the cowl all edged in and Sprayed the two tone color...It will be sanded down again and Re-shot..I just wanted to edge it in because the (two tone) line is still undecided .But this way all the hard to reach areas. are Silver.......Anyways here are a few Pics.....Sorry for the quality They are from my cell......

Thanks guys, i am hoping to have this thing at work in the next week or so....And then about another week blocking....So hopefully i can get it done,I do have a few friends that are going to help get it ready(that i trust to help block) so wish me luck....I want my whole winter to do the details.And finishing touches...Not Stuck doing blocking and such....

Got the passenger side Fender on today,along with the cowl....I still need to do some (anal as my wife says) tweaking on the cowl....The drivers side has a too big for me gap to the fender....And i think it will drive me crazy so i will see what kinda tricks i can pull....? Also the upper portion of the cab will be the silver....I edged the cowl this way so everything close to the firewall will be done,when i paint the whole truck....I will just back tape it....Anyways here are a few pics..........
