Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Love this so far. I'm subbed! Have to say, it would be a heck of a lot easier to work under that than any other truck!

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Bought some 45 degree elbows for exhaust. I want to have some staggered dumps coming out of the rear.

This is my idea, not sure how it will appear in the photos...

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Things to do...

Drill, align and bolt box to subframe.
Put new doors on.
Put front clip back on.
Paint truck.

Driver down the road!

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Slow weekend.

Got my dad to come over and give me a hand to line up the box... It is now fastened to the truck.

Got the front wheels back on...

Started replacing doors...

It's funny how you can see where the full sized rear window should go. Do you think a regular c10 rear window could be made to fit?

While anything is possible, I think it would take too much alteration and modification.

This picture kind of shows it better.

Plus, where would I mount my speakers? lol.

I think it looks cool the way it is but you could always mount some small speaker boxes in the lower corners. If it was me I would swap in a 12V Cummins and forget about speakers. You could listen to the sweet sound of the oil burner!

I will see how all goes with getting the truck together... However, I think a Cummins would look good under the hood. There is enough room to do it.

I am not worried about the small window.

This truck is Bad A** as is, but if it had a Cummins then it would be over the top. I would do what you are doing though. Get it together first then do the swap!

Lug covers on...

I like them, what do you all think?

FYI, I still have a center to install on the front wheel... It will be black.

This will be a roll, sand, cut and buff job yes...

I will be spraying around the corners and hard to get spots.

I have had good luck in the past doing it this way.

I've seen how bad some guys screw this kind of modification up. It's really enjoyable to watch somebody do it right!

I appreciate the compliment from someone who has built so many awesome trucks. I will not deny, after seeing bigasstrux.com, I got the inspiration to start my build.

Thanks to everyone for subscribing to my build and all the great comments.
