Re: 1969 Short Wide

I have been working on this project quite a lot lately. I haven't been taking many pictures....sorry. I have installed the motor and tranny to figure out the motor mounts and the rear cross member position. I got all the new holes drilled. It's now set up to install the LS motor. I really want to find a 6.0 before final install but will go forward with the 4.8 if I have to.

I purchased all the components for the fuel system and a set of original buckets from a 71-72. They are really nice considering their 40 years old. The price wasn't cheap but these were pretty close and I could look at them before buying. Really nice older lady that I bought them from. She was firm on her price at first then she dropped the price down $100 but she wouldn't budge off that. She had coaching from her son and grandson that were there when I bought them. Her husband was restoring a 72 GMC when he passed. She went on to finish it (real nice truck)$$$. He had also purchased some new door panels that matched not oem but very good quality from classic industries. I got them for $100 so I ended up getting the buckets and panels for what she wanted for the doors.

Crappy cell pics below. Better and More pics later.
Mocking up the engine

Seats and panels

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Glad you are making progress on the truck again.

Nice find on the seats & door panels. I have the same door panels for my truck, just that mine are fair condition used parts.

I have a set of first gen Camaro seats I was thinking of recovering to match the door panels or even change them to hounds tooth. They look very similar to the seats you bought.

Did the console come with the seats or did you have it already?

Thanks,
Yep the console came with the set. The fellow that owned them last bought them at the Chickasha swap meet back in 1992. They were in storage since then. I may go with hounds tooth some day too. They look good enough to use now with a little cleaning and polish. I wish the pattern was 69-70 but I looked for a long time just to find these local. I see them on the classified section here occasionally but shipping adds at least $100 or more.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Yeah, those look like the foams are in good shape too. Those may have been pricey, but considering you didn't have to pay shipping, or buy new foams or covers you did good.

Where did you find the 4.8?

Yep, I think I did alright on them the foam is excellent. There is a little wear on the driver side. Not bad. I paid $550 for the set.
I picked up the 4.8 back a fes years ago on Craigs from a local in shawnee.
It's an 03 suppose to be lower miler.

Thanks I'm happy to have them. I think it will change the overall interior plan quite a bit. If I decide to get rid of them I'll let you know. I have been looking for a few years ya know.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

more on the area 51 project.
Kyle (screaminchevypickup) and I have been working on this one for a while. He was nice enough to let me borrow one of his center caps to reverse engineer a cap for Coy wheels (possibly others?) that would fit our trucks directly. Notice the thicker flange and the undercut take the place of the spacer. I'm not going to be running any production on this project....just too time consuming. When I get my own equipment I will for sure.
Here is what his turned out like:

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Awesome piece!!! If I get coys I'll look you up for a set of those!!!

And you got a GREAT deal on the seats! A set like that could easily sell for 1000-1200 with the console!

So when are you going to get your own CNC mill & lathe so we can buy some of those caps?

Awesome work on those caps! Those are a work of art for sure! Your frame is looking great! Mine's just collecting parts a s a bench so you're doing better than me. And great score on the door panels and seat combo. That was one heck of a find!
