Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I got the VA system for the 47-53. It was a very easy to install the vents, ac unit and the dryer. I have not hooked it up yet, just trial fit. Here is the PDF of the install. https://www.vintageair.com/instructions_pdf/754562.pdf
Hope it helps.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Started to work on the fenders.. the rear fenders have some old repairs that seem as if a 5 yr old did it. So I cut it off and replaced it with a new patch.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
It was a pleasure meeting you today. Hope the running boards are what you wanted, no unpleasant surprised. I'll look for the fender next time I'm at the barn.
Went through the entire thread, I saw the cab you worked on first and the one you now have. I like the firewall recess and tranny tunnel of the new cab. Very nice. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your day.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Hey Robert..the pleasure was mine. I have to admit that I needed the drive and time away from my routine. I enjoyed chatting with you and boy do I love your garage... when I grow up, I want one just like it. Your projects are nice and motivating. Nice to see someone elses work and know im not the only one facing challenges... we are driven by our passion to keep these old trucks alive...
The running boards are what I expected, no suprises... They are perfect for my truck..the dings and dents show character and is proof of what American made products used to be... I appreciate you making time to meet with me and opening your garage door... Let me know on that fender ill be glad to make that 60 mile drive again...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Neither Covid-19 or hurricane Hannah were going to stop me from working on my truck today... Heck I thought about what I wanted to do it all week... I was determined to spray undercoat on the front fenders and inner wells. Heck while I was at it, I decided I would paint the inner wells too.. I was determined, on a mission... so last night I packed up all I needed. I checked, double checked and then dreamt about it. I got an early start. Made the 57 mile drive to my warehouse in LaPorte and man I was ready...excited... then it happened.. just when I was ready, set everything up.. I realized I forgot my spray guns..
Aaaaaarrrggghhhhh.. so I had a choice, come back home for my paint guns or try my luck on the famous $15.00 Harbor Freight gun.. so I decided to try my luck, went up the road and bought two of them. One for primer and one for paint. I have to admit, they are okay.. I am no bodyman and I am sure some of the more experienced guys wouldnt get caught with such cheap tool, but for a DIY'r or one time use...it was alright. Heck it saved me a 100+ mile trip and half a days work. So best $30 bucks I've ever spent...

Everything is looking out really nice. Always feels like a huge leap forward when you get into new paint. Looks like the paint gun gamble came out well!

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Worked on the two front fenders today. I am not very good at working bondo. I always watched my dad work it flawless, well at least he made it look that way. Guess it was all the years of experience he had. Honestly I was afraid of it and afraid of messing it up. And guess what? I DID!
I thought that if I added a small amount of hardner I would have more time to work it. Boy was I wrong. I had to scrape off the first mix as it never fully hardened. It was soft... so I called my dad and after he got done laughing he suggested I scrape it off and work in smaller sections and add enough hardner.. So I can claim to have officially bondo'd my fenders...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Wish I could say I had not made the same mistake, but...
The truck is coming along nicely. I plan to go look for that fender this weekend.
