Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Been taking Crustine on the back roads alot lately. She goes in places most would never take a 2wd that's fer sure. Climbed I hill the other day I never thought would be possible without a load. Snagged a picture that I thought was super cool. Filtered it a bit to look like it was taken in the 60's.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Well Crustine's heater core finally went out after what I assume to be a good 50 years. Radiator I put in a few years back had a small leak as well. So needless to say she got a new radiator, heater core, hoses, and thermostat. Happily running at 180 degrees. Will be changing out my redneck coolant bottle shortly as well haha Nothing else to update other than she's been driving and running great. Brake booster went out as well so I'll be doing brakes here shortly and some new steering as well.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Well Crustine is off the ground for some LONG overdue repairs.
Been running on questionable brakes and steering for to long. Already have a new booster and master cylinder painted and ready. Now onto getting measurements for new wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, and drums. Then onto fixing some rather loose steering.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Well time flies for sure, almost 4 months later and Crustine is finally back on the road. Was a chore getting the brake pads and drums for this 3/4 ton truck but luckily I was able to get everything. Did new master cylinder, booster, hoses, wheel cylinders, pads, springs, adjusters, and drums. Needless to say the truck stops ALOT better now that all the brakes actually work. haha
I also replaced the fuel tank as the old one had a crack in the filler neck. I bought this tank new a few years ago for the 66 but went with a frame tank on that one so it worked out well.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Also I'm finally gonna work on getting these bumper guards on and cleaning this valve cover to do a pcv setup.
I also replaced the red tool box with this white one I had sitting around and I'm working on some rather modern reverse lights. haha! More to come soon guys! Steering is in the plans for this winter as I'm itching to get back on the 66 but had to have this back on the road.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Well I got the bumper guards on tonight as well as cleaned and painted the "new" valve cover for the driver side of the engine so I can finally run my pcv setup. Just doing a sealed breather with a hose to the air filter base.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Nothing amazing to update about tonight but I did get my rain guards on. Bought these for the 66 but decided not to use them again as that truck will be avoiding rain haha

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Got the valve cover on and put a spare breather on that I had laying around. Now to order the pcv style breather and run a hose to the air cleaner and that's done. I also finally installed my wiper delay switch and it is well worth having. Excited to actually drive the truck in the rain in the next few months haha Parts should be showing up today for this truck and the 66 so hopefully more updates will be here soon.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Parts showed up today and in those were my arm rests. Nothing super cool but a tad bit more comfort in the truck. I'm really thinking about getting A/C for the truck next year. These 90 to 100+ degree temps make some some sticky drives. haha

Ash tray showed up today from cwcarpenter98. Happy to have another piece of the dash filled in. Next is a new set of heater controls!

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Sweet! Good to know that the GMC ones are the same as the 60-63 Chevys
It looks like we have the same problem with the radio knobs. One is good but the other one is broken for you, and I have one good one but missing the other

Yeah, it used to not be broken and was a sad day when it did break haha 60-63 knobs are the same as the GMC ones so I've been keeping an eye out.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Got my cup holders built today. Some exhaust pipe and a bit of flat bar did the trick. Pretty happy and it holds a bladder buster or two just fine.

Very nice and works great too. You could patent it mass produce for some truck building funds.

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Nothing to crazy to report as of now. I replaced the turn signal lenses and tail light lenses. The old ones were pretty cracked up and discolored. Also got ahold of a stock style choke cable.
Crustine is still driving great.
