Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]
Really rough estimates, short of grabbing the exact numbers, and with shipping:
200R4 rebuildable core- 50 Art Carr rebuild kit- 300ish Lock up HD TC- 160 Reman'd pump- 70 BTO kit- 110ish (way over priced, but prevents having to rebuild a new trans at least) TCI lockup kit- gift B&M Kit- gift Something like that. Under 700-600 in parts so far. A friend is building it. Over building it a little in case the motor ever gets any future attention. Last edited by texanidiot25; 01-03-2011 at 11:34 PM. |

I went from may through october driving other cars as a DD. Flipping those two has given me the 2,000 to use for this.

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]
Real nice truck, looks pretty rust free, probably more common in your area. Hey I've got one too, but nebraska has really rotted it out. Its got a lot of options, so I need input from forum members on how to procede with resto.

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]
(BB Code needs to die, jeebus.)
Anyways, here's some catch-up. It went into storage around '11. It eventually popped a freeze plug, and I just about sold the thing after thinking the engine seized. Later found out that when the plug popped, it flash-corroded the starter cables, and simply killed the connection. It was towed from Houston to Austin in '14 after my dad sold his house. Now with 2 more blown freeze plugs after replacing the first. Then it sat in the field outside of the raceshop (Lone Star Rallycross) I worked at. Then I got a call that it was time to pack up, and move out west to Los Angeles - I had scored a job at HOT ROD Mag. So I used my moving bonus to revive the truck -- A UHaul van was going to be $1,000 anyways. It essentially made the trip with a minor carb rebuild in Deming, NM, and is currently back to daily-driven status in Los Angeles. |
