Just want to throw this out there. I have a 20' flatbed trailer w/ramps. If y'all need her truck picked up & hauled to the garage where the work is getting done, just let me know, & i will take care of it. I would also donate a day to help work on it when needed.

Sounds like a pretty good offer to me. I don't wanna pull my trailer all the way from Nashville anyway. Keep checking in over at the build thread and we'll post some plans over there.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

I just got off the phone with Dawn. I decided to go ahead and tell her what we had done for her and what our plans were. SHE WAS BLOWN AWAY! She actually had to let me go because she was so emotional. I called her back and talked to her a little more to make sure she was ok.

I decided to go ahead and tell her to give her a few days to process it before I visited this coming weekend. Plus, I wanted to let her know so she could go ahead and start making plans for the money that was coming.

I told her when she was ready to get her daughters to show her all of this, so don't be surprised to see her posting on here soon. She said that it explained alot when I told her we had been in touch with her daughters behind her back .

I wish you guys could have heard the appreciation Dawn has towards this board and it's members. She wanted me to tell all of you thanks from the bottom of her heart, and that she could never imagine in a million years people reaching out to her like we have. She still can't comprehend why we would do something like this.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

I'm a long distance believer in this project, too.

I've been wondering if someone in that area might start a "Underhaulin" parts/supply fund.
If the guys nearby are doing all the work, it would give us others a chance to help them keep the project going. There will be misc. odds and ends needed in addition to the hard parts.
After seeing what Bill and the others accomplished in such short time, I'd like to see them get Dawn and girls rollin'. That might be a way we could help.

What do others think?

Hi guys, I'm home in Bean Station now, don't know for how long, but I'd like to help with the labor, etc. I'm maybe 50 miles from Sevierville, about the same from Maynardsville. I've got some time on my hands now, let me know how and when I can help.

PM me for a phone number, or send yours.

Badass work, guys. Someone should go and hand deliver the check and take video or something, since some of us will never get a chance to meet her.

OK...I am close to drawing five names for the 10/03 Classic Truck Magazine drawing. Please check to verify that your site name (ie: I'm 70cst) and not your ebay name (unless its the same) is listed. It will be your responsibility and if your site name is not listed by this Friday...Oh well. I will give you a few days to check this out and by Friday I will draw five names and list them. By the way I can be bought.......Just kidding.

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

Just got this email from Dawn. Hopefully it's not breaking any forum rules, but I thought it was important enough that it needed to be posted here and in the Project Underhaulin thread too, just to be sure everyone saw it. A really good thing was done by a lot of good people on here.

Thank You?????

Dear Bill:
I wanted to call you but couldn't find your number. I probably couldn't get through a conversation anyway. I just can't seem to keep myself composed over this whole situation. Is thank you the appropriate thing to say? How about telling you how grateful I am? Honest to God, I don't know what to say to you for initiating the kind of support I am receiving from so many people. If I may ask you one question though Bill, it would be WHY ME?? What could I have done or said to deserve this? You know, there were a lot of people that took me by the hand the first week or so after I lost Clyde and told me they were there for me, and to let them know if I needed anything. They all knew our situation. These were people I thought were our friends. I never heard from any of them ever again. I had one of my girls literally holding me upright at home while the other one put coffee cans in gas stations to raise money so we could bury her daddy. She took his favorite ragged out flannel shirt and dirty Chevy cap to dress him in and made all the arrangements and not one of those people were there to even hold her hand. Then, one day I came to terms with the fact that if I don't sell our trucks, I may not make it and I put the whole lot on ebay. a couple of months later and I'm struggling so hard to find the words to thank someone I've never even met face to face for changing my life! I remember in one of the first emails you sent to me that you said all of the members in your forum were awesome people. Well, to me, all of you are beyond awesome. I truly believe that each and every one of you were hand picked by God to make a difference in my life and you will never, ever know how much that means to me!
I promise i will come on the site and thank you all as soon as I can, but right now, I can't find the courage to do it. I can't explain why but I don't know if I could handle it yet. I'm so overwhelmed. I don't want anyone to be upset with me but I don't think it's right for me to let ya'll work on my truck if you won't use the money that was donated. I've had an awful migrain ever since Trai said ya'll won't take it.
I'm sorry this note turned out to be so long, but I wanted to try and let you know how very grateful I am to you for caring and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Sincerely, your friend,
Dawn

Tears after I talked to her on the phone, and after reading that.

I know where Dawn's coming from about the money, but I am going to INSIST that she keep the $1000. I know that she needs it, and I believe that you guys want her to have it.

I agree. From what I have been told, read and seen, she needs to use that money for herself. We can handle the issues with the truck.
