Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
Well they got bored with it fast. That's where it was shipped to from Barrett Jackson in Phoenix this past January. Interesting to follow where this thing ends up. And if they get their 55 grand back out of it. I'm gonna bet not on Ebay.

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
What it appears to me is the guy who bought it originally planned to flip it....as has each person after that....everyone must think this is a 100K truck which I think it is....and someone is trying to cash in on that payday....

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
I have to agree I saw the truck on there last week and I contacted the guy, we had talked before when he bought it at barrett in az. I asked him what he wanted for the truck and he said 50000. The truck is worth every penny of 50000 but it won't bring that in this economy. I thought about buying it back but not for 50. Besides I could always build another one if I really wanted too. Hope he gets it but the truck is a show truck it's not a driver and I think guys get bord with it and just sell it. But man people flip on that trucks at shows. It would have more people around it at how's then 200000 dollar street rods.

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
I too saw this at the 2010 GNRS at Pomona and loved the stance, workmanship, theme and EVERYTHING!!!
I've never heard anything good about Barrett-Jackson from the sellers standpoint, Mecum Auctions seem maybe more equitable but i don't know, i doubt i'll have anything sold like that. Vehicles that they sell always seem to sell for pennies on the dollar, the people who win are B-J and some lucky buyers. I think you have the coolest attitude and must have the most awesome spouse too, its refreshing to hear your wisdom on this whole thing. I will also repeat what everyone also knows on this board (i'm relatively new to the board but not old cars, trucks & bikes); You build spectacular projects and both know what you are doing and obviously love it. To say the word "envious" is an understatement... Tim

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
Thanks Tim for the kind words. When I was in my early 20s I may have handled the situation with the truck the wrong way. But as you and most on this board know you gain wisdom with age. Although I am only 34 I don't have the time or energy to waste on being angry about the truck. The money was not what bothered me it was how non professional Barrett Jackson was the entire weekend. These are not good people they are driven by greed and money. As stated before they dropped the hammer on people car before they were done bidding. I witnessed this and was blown away. All I can do is be honest if asked about my experience with them. God does not pay his debts in cash. And no I am not a bible thumper

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
Frankly, I'm sick and tired of seeing the truck. No disrespect to the truck or the builder at all. So, please allow me to explain. I mean in terms of a buyer buying the truck just to make a buck. I know, I know...it's a free country and everyone has the right to do as he/she pleases. But, look at the current seller with the pics in front of his/her million dollar house to help accentuate the truck. Also, what further makes me sick is when someone sells the truck they write all this bull about how the truck is one of a kind and hundreds of thousands of hours went into building this truck. Yes, all that is true, but they did not put their hard work and sweat into the truck. They more than likely don't know first hand because they didn't build it and could probably car less about the love of these trucks or the passion of building classics. That's why the buyer bought it and the motive was only to turn a profit. Why else would it keep being sold?

i agree as well. i live here in az & i used to try to attend the b-j "show" but everytime i have gone i just shake my head at the whole event either at the cars pricing, ticket pricing or at anything that is "offered" there! I think the only thing that I know of to compare it to would be the "polo games" in the hamptons!! It seems to be just an event for the super wealthy that just go to be seen & not the car enthusests it once was geared for.... quote: "As stated before they dropped the hammer on people car before they were done bidding." quote i agree with this as well, but then when you get atleast 8% from buyer & seller then the best price for the car does not quite seem as important..... right |

Re: second chance 67 chevy, project from hell
What leather did you use on the seats, looks like my couch at home. Auto leather is usually all pebbly, does that product last if used regularly??? Sorry for bringing this post back up, just looking at old subscribes.
Here's a thought, what posts do you look at, if your interested in the build its probably off the hook. Look forward to your Sub build.
