I'm sure no one will be laughing at anything out your shop. How about the grant kustoms hinges with a prop rod? A lot cleaner

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

Hey guys.....long time no see!! A little progress on the C10 but not enough to share. We are finishing up a few projects and havnt had time. I am really itching to get this finished. We are already talking about cutting out the dash and building something one off. Remember the silver painted 468 motor..........its now black and very shiny. The best part is the 2 inch cog belt system on it. Wow it is tuff. I just got everything bolted on the motor today and wanted to show it off. For now its garage eye candy!!

p.s. thats a cool 1966 Corvette frame in the background

What is your screen name over there. I guess you have seen why I havent worked on the truck. I am hoping to start getting some progress in the coming weeks on the c10.

A while back I built a room inside my garage. The bottom part was enclosed and I installed an in wall exhaust fan for grinding, sanding, and dirty work. This way the rest of the garage could stay relatively clean. I made a loft above it so I could store parts and supplies to keep out of the way. Parts are normally the items that clutter up a garage.

BEFORE

I wanted a little atmosphere in the garage and this room was the perfect place to do it. I installed real brick venires and used concrete stucco to give the plaster over brick theme. I bought new metal roofing from Lowes and used acid to make it rust and then brought in a faux painter to make the plaster look old. I made the round sign out of old pallet wood and had a painter do the graphics on it.

AFTER

On the hood hinges I have the same problem, I called Porter and he said I had some of the first ones and he since corrected the problem he sent me new pieces that bolt to the outside of the firewall and the struts bolt to (I haven't switched mine out yet so I cant tell you if it solved the problem, but he said it would)

As for everything else......AMAZING ! Coolest shop EVER !

the garage is looking sweet man. I first thought the brick work was just a painted brick but what you did is awesome. I think my wife is lucky my shop doesn't look that good or else she would never see me, lol.

Thanks Mike. Please let me know. I know I have had these hinges for a while so I probably have an old batch too.

Yes, it did look like crap for a while...almost 6 months but I couldnt decide what to do. I wanted to make it look like an old gas station but I just didnt feel like buying a bunch of expensive signage to go on it so I came up with this. Our house is kind of old world style so this seemed to fit in.

I built our home and the garage so this is just one of the things I learned. We still didnt know what we were going to end up with. Just like with cars, I dont start with much of a plan.

thank you.....I was going to put a garage door on it but decided a door on tracks would cover the lighting and a roll up door would look so pretty so we have a removable panel with filters in it to cover the door when we are making dust in there.

Mark-

Shoot me a call on the hinges, we will get you figured out. Also, I have a pretty cool idea for hiding the struts and cleaning up the firewall. It will be a little work.... but that obviously won't bother you!

I love it too....luckily our c10's have big engine compartments so we have plenty of room. I tried it in my 64 Malibu but just not enough room.

I love my garage........I practically live in it!

Those are Hyundai Tiburon seats. The best keep hot rod seat secret on the planet!!

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

I guess it has been a few days since I have posted on here........ Other projects have been going on and I just have not had time. We just took the truck off the lift this morning were it has sat for 6 months. I am ready to get going on this truck and get it finished. It has been a project for over 5 years and always gets pushed aside. Each time I revive it I really get excited so here we go.

When things sit for a while it gives me a chance to change my mind. Very early in the build we had some inner fenders mocked up out of cardboard that looked pretty cool. For some reason at the time I decide to go with the "trailer fender" look. I have looked at them so long I don't like them so today we started putting back on the cardboard inner fenders we were playing with 16 months ago.

i think we are going to finish it this time.
