Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

I got some Accuride rims for it. Cleaned them up a little. Still need to clean some more on the backs. I also got a brake controller. I put the trailer light socket in the bumper but haven't wired it.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Chuck-
Thanks for the part numbers, they are the same that I have on my truck now. The Napa 703-1092 can also be ordered as a Stant 10742. I haven't driven it since I put them on, so I wasn't entirely sure they would work correctly for pressure/vacuum. Glad to hear yours is ok so far.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

Weird thing happened today with Tonto. I filled up the other day after getting a new gas cap to see if any fuel would come out of it. So after it didn't I parked it in the basement where its been for a few days. Today I get home from work and smell a strong gas smell. I look all over to see which truck had the gas puddle but neither did. I go over to Tonto and start to ease off the cap and a little spray comes out as if it were under pressure. I clean it all up and move it outside for cleanup. I guess the temp drop then temp climb the last couple days might have caused it Iduno.
So that little sticker on the top of the cap is true lol.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

haha,. I don't know what caused it. I didn't run the truck after that but I also didn't take the cap off after I got home either. People usually don't fill up and take the cap off too. So anyway I will be careful from now on when taking it off. What really got me was that it smelled so strong like there was a puddle somewhere. Never had this happen in the 26 yrs I've been messing with these trucks.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

These things are quirky. My 72 had a filter with one line in and two out--one to the carb and I guess the other one is supposed to go to a charcoal canister. I put a new filter on with one inlet and one outlet and it cranked right up. The other hose is just laying aside. A day or two later, it wouldn't pump fuel up into the clear filter. I'm wondering if that other hose has to be connected to something, or plugged, for the fuel pump to get fuel. I hate to start changing the pump if it's some quirk with the tank venting.

This is with an OEM mech pump and the filter is between the FP and the carb. I haven't studied the other line routing yet. I just want to hear it run for engine evaluation.

Re: Chucks 72 Cheyenne Custom Camper

I got the heat riser taken off and the delete put on. Much quieter now. I also got the light socket wired and all I have left on that is the electric brakes wire and hooking up the controller.
I had to redo the rear connections as someone had crossed some wires and that made it take longer to do.
