Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
Jim;
Just got a power kit from the junk yard here in town,they said it come out of the new style chevy pus. Got a good price $30 for both sets . Got tired of looking for the helmet,cloves,wire n the grinding pads all the time. It is a HF unit but so is the welder. Will still have to do some adj on the way the leg feels after a few days, but for now it feels great. The raw sore is healed up also. My old work boots are soon to be replaced with a NEW set, Have had the boots for 5yr, time for a new pair. Hope to get out in the shop in the next few days again. We are now getting rain here so that is a good thing(need the rain) to settle the dirt n help with the spring growing of grass(weeks) T-P Auto Tim |

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
Hello Everyone;
Well got out to the garage today(feel better). Got the front grill repainted. (pic) rebuild the grill; (pic) installed the grill (pic). looking at the power window system; Picked up a NEW project ? ? Found a NEW cab n front fenders for my old 78 chevy pu. A friend gave me the 85 chevy pu,it is a3/4 ton 4 speed w 350 sbc. Thinking about putting the whole set up on my 78 frame. My 78 is a SWB truck The 85 is LWB truck. With the 308 rear end in the 78 the 85-4sp should get some good mileage. Just another project to keep me busy this yr. T-P Auto Tim |

Tim,
Glad you are feeling up to getting the shop again. I have one of those carts and it works a lot better than the original one I built! I like the grille colors too, looks good.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
Hello Everyone:
It has been sometime since I posted. I have been try to get use to the NEW socket(leg). Plus had a very bad case of Allergy. Have been try to all so find a bear claw latch that would fit in the door frame. I tried: 91 chevy van - too large (pic) 78 chevy pu - too long (pic) ?? ford - wrong throw to open (pic) did some mods on latch 88 jeep - complete set up (pic) show the door with out the old handle (pic) I think the 88 jeep door latch will fit the best of all that I have tried. I had to cut the old door latch off(not reuse able) Hope to get back on the project more the next few days. T-P Auto Tim |

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
Tim, somebody on this web site is a believer in the jeep bear claws. He put them in his AD build and has pictures to show how/what he did. The only thing I remember for sure is he is from Canada. I may have his build bookmarked so will keep looking in hopes I can find it. Clay

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
If your jeep bear claw don't work out, the next time you are over at Albuquerque (Tijeras) you might check this guy out. He started out on the H.A.M.B. and I think he has his own web site. He makes bear claws in three sized.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
I have a friend in Oklahoma that used 38chevy454 bear claws - that's how I found out about him. Tim, I also have bookmarked a guy that shows how he modified a set to fit his push button handles if you would like to see that as well. I don't mean to be pushy on this stuff but I have been collecting info for about 2 years now to get started on my build.
By the way, the contrast grill bars look good. Clay |

Hopefully we can get together to see if he has something that will work for me n my project. That push button set up would help me too. Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
Well, I misspoke. The guy in Oklahoma did not put the bear claws in his AD truck but did put the Albuquerque ones in a '57. Here is the link for that.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=643728 Now the push button install is on a '55 but you can get the principal of whats happening. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/t...h-tech.512619/ I had not realized it before but I did a search on this site and checked the '67 bubble and there was about 4 or 5 pages of bear claw installs. |

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;
Hello Everyone;
It has been sometime since I posted. I have been try to get my NEW sockets to fitting right. I got to talk with38chevy454(Terry) in Alb this week. I picked up a set of his mounting bracket for my jeep hinges. (pic) While I was in Alb I stopped by to pick up a couple of riding mower tires n ended up getting a 16ft flat bed of lawn mowers given to me(all used) (pic) Then when I got back to town with my chevy Nova I had to do some work on it, it dropped gas mileage from 35mpg to 24 mpg. So spent all day Thur working on the car plus all so worked my 96 chevy pu drive line. Hopefully I will be able to get back on the project again this next week. Will be working on some of the lawn mowers to try to sell for extra cash. I try to do this every spring. T-P Auto Tim |
