Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build
damn that looks sweet
wish I had more patience for my own build question, is that a crossover pipe (H pipe) on the exhaust? Won't do ya any good after the mufflers. If it's not, what the heck is it lol. I can only stare at something so long before haha note to self: ditch rusty CPP master cylinder, get new aluminum MC

I would've liked to put in an H or X pipe before the mufflers but there simply isn't enough room with the porterbuilt frame stiffener assembly. We opted to put a crossover pipe after the mufflers, not for performance, but to even out the tone and mellow down the dreaded freeway drone.

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build
Engine is basically finished! Engine covers had to be cut up quite a bit to fit, but look nice now. Hydroboost and power rack is plumbed. Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator is mounted and plumbed.
Had trouble with my factory column so went ahead and bought an Ididit tilt column and billet specialties steering wheel, just waiting on a new unisteer U joint to put in tbe column, bleed the brakes and it'll be ready for a spin...hopefully.

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build
The shifter section was loose and I couldn't get it any better. It physically fit with the extreme drop member no problem, I just was tired of dicking with the sloppy shift lever.

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build
Ok guys I need some help. My power steering isn't working. Before I connected the lines to the pump and fired up the truck, I could turn the wheel lock to lock no problem. Now that it's plumbed and with fluid that tbe steering is very lumpy and no power assist. I have the front jacked up. The wheel will turn about 1/4 steering wheel turn easily and then get to a big lump and is really tough to get past, then another easy part followed by a hard lump again. About 3 lumps from center to left lock and from center to right lock. Any one have problems with theirs?

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build
I know you have a power rack and probably a type II pump, but I just replaced my power steering pump and steering box with stuff from AGR. I also have hydroboost. It literally took my about 4.5 hours to bleed the air out of the system to get it to act right - it was a frustrating PITA. This involved turning the wheels back and forth with the cap off the reservoir and the engine off to get all the air out, then you have to bleed the hydroboost part of the system too. Something else to check is anything hitting or binding up in the system, maybe you can have someone else come turn the wheel back and forth while you look. Did that steering rack come with a bleeding procedure in the instructions?

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build
I only started mine for a second after the swap, checked the reservoir and it was all foamed up and bubbling. While bleeding the box & pump with the engine off, yes it was hard to turn it lock to lock and that was with the truck up on my lift and the wheels off the ground. It took WAY more fluid than I expected. Well over 2 quarts, but I'm using a Saginaw pump and a steering box, so yours will probably be different, but it takes quite a bit of fluid to fill up all the lines, the rack (or box) and the pump/reservoir.
Did you just hook it up and fire up the motor and it wouldn't turn properly? I'm surprised your pump wasn't whining and making all kinds of noises. Mined was raising all kinds of hell when I iniatially fired it up after the first time I tried to bleed it and there was still a ton of air in the steering box. http://www.agrperformance.com/Instal...erformance.htm http://www.hydratechbraking.com/tech.html This should help.

Can't believe I haven't run across this build thread before.
I approve of both the powertrain, and the color. Awesome build.

need to work on the brakes a bit. Tried to bleed them yesterday and had fluid leaking from every connection! I hate brakes
