Thanks for the compliments. I did the mod a couple years ago. It wasn’t terribly tough from what I remember. Fit it up how i liked it and then welded the bolts in place and removed the head. Then just some body filler and sanding to make it look smooth. It installed with no bracket modifications. I’m really liking the look, too.

I appreciate the compliment. I think the color is going to pop when it gets outside. Hopefully that day isn’t too far down the road

Shot paint on Thursday. The color is a Toyota color called cement gray. It has a slight pearl to it. Very happy with the contrast in colors

Grill trim, headlight buckets, emblem and front bumper installed. Reinstalling the trim was a total PIA with keeping the fasteners seated. That was definitely a frustrating couple of hours, but it came out nice. I’m really liking the look

Reassembly continued…

I spent a few evenings prepping and painting misc interior pieces. Then another few nights installing the freshly painted pieces.





The glove box door turned out okay. It has its flaws, but overall I’m happy with it!



Reinstalling the door guts was more time consuming than i thought it would be. I also need to clean the window glass still. The Altman door latches work terrific ! I’ll jump onto the driver door reassembly over the next week.

Small updates. I’ve been very focused on getting as much of the interior put together as possible. It definitely makes for easy satisfaction! AC ducting mostly installed. Waiting on adapters for the reproduction defrost vents. I also got to installing more door pieces.


I currently have the precision door seals on. Even after all the threads i read about difficulty shutting the door, I thought mine would be different lol. Needless to say, I have new Honda seals ordered and on their way. Hopefully they work as good as everyone says they do!




In the meantime while waiting for some parts, I’m taking a run at re-doing my seat upholstery. After some minor seat frame repair, i took the frame to the blaster and I’ve started diving into the foam repair.

Interior progress continued over the last few weeks

Spent some time fitting the foam. It wasn’t terrible other than the big mess it makes. I also shot the seat frame with some black paint i had laying around. It turned out great. Lastly, I had to replace the broken pull cable for the seat adjuster. A quick trip to home depot took care of that.









I also was able to install more interior pieces. The interior door arm rest and the headliner went in smooth. I ended up using adhesive tape for the headliner. We’ll see how that goes.

Seat belts showed up yesterday, so i through those in. My seat cover is on order and should show up this month!

Much appreciated. It definitely is a lot of work, but i feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I found a really good video on youtube that went through it pretty thoroughly, plus it was straight to the point which was nice. I disassembled the doors years ago so it definitely saved me time from the guessing game.

It’s actually a refurbished tilt column. I had it sent out to a member here on the board years ago to be redone.

Update.

Been spending the last month verifying tolerances on my engine. Made some decent progress with getting the pistons installed. Hope to get the cam installed in the next week. It has been a fun learning experience for sure.

Last night I jumped into the reupholstery on my seat. It wasn’t too hard at all and turned out great. The repaired side feels awesome and you’d never know it was repaired.

Weekend update. Waiting on parts for the engine. I went ahead and got the back window installed with my brother. I had to laugh at the stickers they’ll be coming off eventually.

It took lots of soapy water and had a small minor tear on the interior corner but it looks good. The tear isn’t too big and should go unnoticed.

Road block on the engine. The camshaft that came with the 383 kit is having issues clearing the piston rods. After researching it, it sounds like I’ll have to either clearance the piston rod bolts or get a small circle base cam. Disassembling the pistons isn’t sounding very appealing….

In the mean time, while i ponder that decision, I’ll just admire how far the truck has come.

There is a Lot of clearance things that need to be done for the 383 Thing.

Cam and connecting rod bolts is the main thing.

Some of the Crankshafts need a little work also.
