Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Here are some 60-66 truck photos taken at the Spokane swap meet this morning. These are fairly typical trucks of this vintage found in the local area.
This one was listed for $3500. According to the sign it won’t idle cold and needs a carb rebuild or replacement. It also appears to need quite a bit of attention under the hood: This was advertised for $3750: The windshield is badly broken, and judging by the large gaps in the gasket just outboard of the wiper pivots, the floor is probably shot. The radio is missing but the dash opening hasn’t been hacked. The factory A/C outlet is there but has been painted over: On a trailer in the adjoining space this one was asking $3950, and also listed as having factory A/C, and needs the standard fender/rocker repairs: Moving up in price, this was out in the front parking lot with a $4500 for sale sign. This is a photo of the same truck at the same event back in 2009, when it didn’t have a hood:

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
The MDF bed floor could use a bit of refinishing:
Parked in the auction area awaiting a new home, this one had a decent paint job and had a nice used car look to it: I believe this fleetside shortbed was just on display and not up for sale. It had dual quads, and the owner might have been out looking for a fender: This last truck was also out in the front parking lot, and was the last 60-66 I happened to see on the way out:

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Mark, I saw those today as well. I can't believe the asking price on those trucks. The problem is that in our area, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find builder or parts trucks with the high price of scrap. Pull and Save is currently paying $275.00 for any complete vehicle. There are just so many of these vintage trucks going to the wrecking yards these days, it is depressing.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I’m certainly suffering disbelief with current asking prices. To evaluate if a selling price is reasonable, I simply calculate the market value of the vehicle if it were completely finished. Then I subtract how much investment is needed to get it to that level.
Frequently I find it would take several thousand dollars to convert what is for sale into a truck or car that still might not be worth the present asking price. To break even on much of what I see offered, I’d need to acquire the vehicle for free or be paid to take it. There seems to be a lack of comprehension that vintage and immaculate isn’t the same as old, rusty, non-functional or heavily damaged. I see so many of the same cars and trucks show up over and over and return home unsold. When they stop showing up I just assume the owner finally got tired of hauling them back and forth and went for scrap. It’s a shame because if the asking prices were closer to what they’re worth, a lot more could be saved.

Went to see a 63, about an hour and a half drive from home. What a mess this truck was. What attracted me to this truck was it had a BBW. The guy wanted $3500 US I offered $1200 he refused. He called me back with a lowered price just to get rid of it at $3000. Told him I had found another truck as not to insult this guy. He told me alot of people had seen the truck but that no one had the money. No Money = not worth it. It's still for sale. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I saw a running 68 in pretty decent shape today at the junkyard for 1400 I think, I wish I had the cash. At least since they have it in the whole car area maybe someone will rescue it.

I take it that's a 57 reflecting off the side.
At first glance I thought it was the paint of flames. Which I thought was nicely done. Posted via Mobile Device

I've owned a couple of 57's, and love tri-five Chevys, but there are just so darn many of them at every event I've pretty much lost interest in taking photos of them. The last one I fell in love with was this authentic unrestored racer from the 1960's:

I keep "thinking" I see the light at the end of the tunnel..... Then it just goes away.... She's coming along slowly. But I guess that's ok! (Gotta find a molded upper Rad hose! I HATE this one!)

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Awesome truck, not much more to go. I've got the same hose hated it so much I spent an $20 to cover it. Then someone on this board informed me about a '68 Chev being the part to order at NAPA. Haven't been able to find the part number yet. Good luck.
