From the looks of that beast I think the blazer could have dug itself out.

Swapped my shocks over to the Belltech Street performers from their Drop 2 and installed a radiator cover. Cover is painted now but I want to get it powder coated to match my other covers.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
When I worked at the Chevy dealer way back in the day trucks would come in to the shop and those nuts on the caps would be missing ............... we wondered who thought those fake nuts could hold the wheel on .........

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Over the weekend wrapped up the 68's short indoor trailer queen run, lol. Hauled down to Roseburg, Oregon for their indoor car show. They only give out 5 awards (Top 3, Best Bike, and Best Display) and the 68 came home with 1st place, pretty neat homemade trophy that they then were able to snap a picture to put on it prior to the ceremony. Now home and out of the trailer and ready to start racking some miles up again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Noice! I'm considering an engine from them, but I don't really need all that horse power (said nobody ever ). I know of an ace engine rebuilder locally, so may try to see about an estimate for my original engine.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I’m putting the engine in my 3/4 ton 72 . I use it to tow so the extra torque was what I was interested in . Putting the 350 which still runs nicely in my 68 Anniversary truck kill two birds with one stone . The 327 I’ll rebuild some time in the future. Since I tow with the 72 I may pull the engine and trans (Th350) in one unit and the same with the 68 . Take the TH400 from the 68 get it rebuilt and put it in the 72 .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I pulled one of the valve covers off my 68's powerplant to get the casting numbers off the head (3911032 1968 70cc 327) and despite the outside of the engine looking old and grimy, the inside is just about spotless. So I guess it was rebuilt at some point. Pretty stoked to find it so clean inside.
Based on what I know about the trucks history, I would guess it has somewhere around 10k miles on this engine rebuild which would have been done in the early 90's.

Got the new Tremec 4050 installed, and my TC back in. New hydraulic clutch pedal installed as well. Just finishing up the shift linkage and need to have my drive shafts shortened and lengthened.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I got my '68 C/10 Stepside back on the road with a rebuilt propshaft.
OEM single shaft was bent bad in a side collision in 4/22. Over 60 MPH there were excessive vibrations. At freeway speeds the SM465's shifter wanted to pop out of Fourth gear. Anyway, smooth acceleration now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Hopefully in the short rows of a power steering install on my 67. Everything has gone about a smooth as expected to this point. Waiting on new hoses as the initial ones I purchased I did not like the way they fit.
It looks like the power steering box I installed is going to cut about one full steering wheel turn from lock to lock. I will have to learn how to drive the truck all over again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
.
Started prepping to replace the water pump today. Decided the radiator and fans needed to come out so I started draining it and unhooking lines and hoses. The goal was not to make a mess. With that in mind I decided to move the truck out of the shop onto the gravel to remove the radiator and pump, this way any coolant in the block could just run out there. OK! I hop in the cab and fire it up, pull it into reverse and didn't get that immediate thump into gear...it took me maybe a second to go from I'm gonna move this truck to engine OFF NOW! ...and so now I get to do exactly what I was trying to avoid, and then some! -klb

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
'72 Fremont truck, early in the production year. That's looking really nice!
Oh yeah, I went to a local car show. Lots of vehicles, from over 90 years to the present. I remember when a Model T ford was only a few decades old.
