Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Good luck, Boog. I've had my share of dental issues in the past few years but nothing like yours -- or should I say what they want to do to you.

Mine have mostly been root canals and crowns. Out-of-pocket, no insurance. I accused them of somehow finding out I had a little more money left.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Aspen dental is the place. Lady called this afternoon to schedule the appointment for removal. She said the 23rd and to discontinue my blood thinners 7 days before. That's 2 more weeks of this, and besides that, I have already stopped taking my blood thinners. She said she didn't tell me to stop taking them yet. I said I already knew I'd have to stop them a week in advance so I stopped them before yesterday's visit. Amazingly she found a spot next monday instead. Imagine that. She verified the extraction and deep cleaning on that day. I said nope. I only want the extraction. She said the Dr wants to do both. I said I went in there for a tooth removal only and am not interested in their other services. I paid in advance for just the removal.
Drs don't care for patients making medical decisions for themselves. They are in the medical field to make all the money they can and if they can push folks into having procedures done that aren't absolutely necessary, they'll do it. Much like auto garages and so many other businesses.

.

Boog you’ve nailed it right here. Indeed the industry has become profit driven just like the others. It is ok to both say no and shop around for good prices! Have them quote the service just like a body shop. Get three and choose your favorite LOL.

My doc sits back and listens, allows me to decide what treatment best suits my needs and so far, it has worked out. He’s an old school relic from the past.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Funny Thing....I just had a tooth pulled today. Of course it reared its ugly head at 5pm Friday Night, suffered through the weekend and Monday. Got in this AM, 30 minutes in and out and I'm good to go until the next problem.

Technically “my truck”, but fits this thread I think.

I replaced the radiator in my 2012 2500 this morning.

11 years old 125k miles, there should not be a leak. But hey! It’s PLASTIC… So why wouldn’t there be leak?

Went for a drive today. Ended up at Dales Corner. Met the proprietor, Dale. Heck of a nice guy. That's him in the picture bringing my wife a cup of coffee while she is picking a bag of apples from his way old trees. Ol Blue K20, it was great meeting you. Had a blast chewin' the fat with ya'. We could sit out on that porch and bench race for hours! Thanks again for your hospitality!

Worked on a fence for my table saw. One of my carving buddies wants to make a jewelry box for his wife for xmas. I'll have to get some more jigs to make that happen. Needed the jigs, anyway. I'll be scarce after the morning tomorrow, until Thursday; wife and I are going camping.

Been a busy morning for me. Made a double batch of chocolate syrup and bottled up my Grape wine. I reuse my bottles so I will have to change the dates on the labels. 10 small bottles and one large bottle. It tastes really good! Both of them....

I have a 2011 with 130k. No leak now, but I will look carefully at that area of the tank. Plan on driving it 3k, R/T to FL in Feb.

My neighbor's Ford truck has a plastic radiator. It started leaking (developed a hole) at the upper hose flange. A little JB weld and the leak stopped -- for now, anyway.

You never know, general rule is once a crack always a crack, but there are exceptions to the rule.
I have a buddy that had a early 80's Jeep and the aluminum head had a threaded boss for the smog pump that cracked and broke, we JB Welded that thing back and it was still holding when he sold it many years later.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Now that fall is upon us, for some reason I have a hankering for some oatmeal fudge. Don't know why. So I mention it to my wife and she said we are out of oatmeal. I said no. It's in there. Well she couldn't find it. I pulled it out of the cabinet and placed it where she couldn't miss it. A bit later she put it back in the cabinet. So I guess she's just not ready.

My mom made something like that. She called it no bake chocolate cookies. It tastes like fudge with oatmeal in it. It's pretty good.

Even if you kept it all, that's just a stash for over the winter, or however long it would take to consume.

As far as the wine it takes me a long time to consume that. I still have some from 2008, all the way to this year. As far as the baked goodies, they don't last long around me. I need to bake some cookies in the next couple of days, I just need to decide which kind. I switch off every time I bake them ....

I was out of cookies so I had to make some frosted chocolate waffle cookies this morning. This was my moms recipe. Not sure where she got it but it might have been my Grandmothers. I remember my Grandmother had a waffle iron that she had to put on the stove burner to heat it up. (non electric) She made some great waffles on that thing though...

They legalized cruising again in Modesto home of American Graffiti, so a bunch of old Faros are going out for a burger and a short cruise like the old days. Perfect weather for it today, rolled "Cheryl Ann" out and washed all the Almond dust off of her.
