Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Not on my truck, I just drove mine to my buddies. New power steering is working great and wish I’d done that swap sooner.
Helped my buddy get his radiator in, all hooked up, and filled. We then rebuilt the driveshaft with all new u joints and carrier bearing. Got right the point of ready to fire up and ran out of time. Ready for first start and break in after full rebuild.

Got my AM tuner unfrozen, got my BT unit and speaker switch mounted.
Next we find out if the AM unit works with the speakers....if it still works at all ;-)

Finished up the power steering install by securing the lines and re-installing the inner fender. Wife and I took it on about an hour drive. Now on to finishing up the rear bumper.

Neat process.
I had a crack in the drivers side manifold of the 454 BBC in my '67 K/10 Sub. I tried JB Weld. Unlike the claims on the package side, it burned off after a while.
There were Ram Horn exhausts on the small block in my '71 GMC Jimmy when I bought it. After It sucked a couple of valves [#6 + #7], I bought a Mr Goodwrench crate motor 350. I noticed the exhausts were different. The RH one had tapped bores for A.I.R. but the LH was pre-Emissions. I didn't like the possibility of different backpressures, so I got Headman headers.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I tried and my welding guy tried to weld up the crack . No go the cast is so porous it just opens up . So it looks like a new set is in order . I even painted the passenger side .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I was checking fuses on my new-to-me 2003 Tahoe. [Weird electric window issues.] When I dropped something, so I crawled under the motor.
I didn't find the tiny piece I had lost but I did find a 1'' piece of blue sparkplug wire. I had moved the '71 Jimmy out rom under the carport so I could check on the Tahoe in the shade. The Jimmy had run rough, but I thought it was just a cold engine.
I looked under the hood and found a packrat had chewed thru the #5 cylinder plug wire. No. 5 is hard to get to on a 4-Speed truck with Power Steering. I found a used plug wire I can try, but I'm not sure I got the terminal to click on the sparkplug tip.
I'll get back after it tomorrow. The sun went down on me today.

lol . I’ve gotten to the point on my trailers I buy one new set and rotate them to the trailer I need at the time . Tires dry rot on them before they wear out .

My tire guy (son in law) got me Nokias outpost tires for my Nissan . $600 out the door . Must have fallen off the delivery truck

Simple tire lists them at $160 apiece

Finally got around to putting a matching chrome and black glovebox door on to match the gauge trim, found some self adhesive black faux leather to use on the center that matches okay.

Finished up the rear bumper and got it installed. Now moving on to putting the tail lights where the backup lights currently sit once I get my back up light idea finished up.
