Well I got the motor this far, now just waiting on a carb from Jerry Jones.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I guess it's the same for all of us. I seem to get about a half or less done than I think I should every "wrenching day".
Today, I planned to get all the wiring done in the cab. Instead, the gage cluster is still out and laying on the floor. But I did get the wiring done and finished for the cig lighter (no smoking in the truck...but it'll get used for all the silly electronic stuff ...like recharging the phone...), glove box light, patch in for the driver's electric seat, finish connections at the fuse block for the windows, panel lights, a couple of grounds, dead-ended a few of the P.O.'s scragglers, and organized the wiring. I'm hoping the gage cluster, aside from the tach connections, will be plug and play. Should be, I've mocked it up five times. But you all know how THAT goes.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I got my front clip off so I can swap out the old tired crate motor for the 1970 LT1 out of my camaro. Just need to finish cleaning and painting before I can get the motor back in it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Amazing what getting some help can do...I've been a one-man-show for almost three years on this build.
Today, Butch (who is going to do body work) had a free day so he came to help on some "mechanicals" from the punch list. While I (almost) finished up the under-dash wiring and installed the parking brake and tin cover, Butch chased...and maybe stopped... what I thought was a brake fluid leak, filled the differential, cleaned up the routing of the wiring on the rear harness, started the locking down (welding) of the roll pan. Then, together, we bled the brakes and adjusted the e-brake. A good day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
got the manual to power steering conversion finally figured out and done! guess we will be removing the gas tank next? the new inline filter is looking like coffee after only having run the engine for about a half an hour. it was running good then all of the sudden not so good. i noticed the filter and shut her down. should have known we wouldnt get away that easy without having to give the fuel system some attention just like every other thing on this poor ol truck! guess with the monte carlo buckets out i can see how the buddy buckets i have fit. the truck has a hurst 4 speed floor shifter in it and im hoping it will clear the buddys center seat?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I have a giant list of stuff I need to do to my truck here lately.
Got started on some of it today before the 4th of July bbq festivities happened. I finished putting the drivers side exhaust manifold back on, had to remove it to replace a broken off dipstick tube. Next was to replace a broken passenger door handle. Didn't finish it today, need to find the new one I got for it like a year ago. Major thing was I gutted the interior, removed the carpet and fuel tank and installed some fat mat. Hope it helps. I need to pick up my seats at the upholstery shop next week and finish installing my new instrument cluster. pics |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
took out seat and carpet. grinded the old glue off the floor and put down 2 coats of RUST BULLET. I used maybe more than 1/2 a Quart. That's with 2 thick coats brushed on. not sure how well it'll work it's been in storage for more than 5 years. I bought it for one of my previous projects.
when it dries i'm gonna put down some Dynamat i've had sitting around. i'm gonna cover it with 2 different things. i have a COOL MAT,I think it's like 4x10? gonna see how much that covers and then i also have that Frost King AC duct insulation i'm gonna put down. i wish i could take some pictures, but my Digital camera is broke . |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
took it for a drive after finished installing dynamat and coolmat. didn't end up using the frost king stuff, the coolmat covers pretty much the entire floor.
it's 100 degrees here and with the windows down i can't tell if it's any quieter or cooler? |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I don't use Dynamat or sound deadener, I love the sound of my 500 plus HP big block, the cam especially, spent all that money so want to hear it, if i want quiet I will drive my wife's cadilac.
