Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I put the new flex plate and starter on. Went with the 98 delco truck starter.
I adjusted my head lights and and went for a cruise.

Is that a small starter? Is it a high torque starter? For what engine?

Swapped out the back glass rubber for a used one with the stainless trim.I bought a back glass with trim for $20.00 at my local pick and pull.My back glass was in better shape so I just used the rubber and trim.

yes its a smaller starter. I think they may consider them high torque mini. not sure on that. We used one a 468 13 to 1 motor. Im not sure when gm started using them? I just order a starter for a 98 1/2 ton 350. Used them on several cars now. It was 210 from the chevy house. half the weight and size of the old starters.

I welded the right front spring shackle on my 67 K10 back together and ordered a new set. Finally my 45-50 mph shimmy is gone.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Today I pulled the old JVC radio out to see if the dash had been hacked up by any of the previous owners. It was nice to see that it wasn't. I will get an original looking radio some day.

This week I ordered pins and bushings to rebuild the door hinges, as well as a NOS door stop retainer to replace one that is missing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I never liked the stock location of the step bumper on my truck. It always looked too low to me. So, after doing the 2.5" frame raise in the rear, it was the perfect opportunity to tuck the bumper higher up. I think it looks much cleaner now. I was originally going to ditch this bumper for a sport bumper, but this simple step bumper is growing on me. I think I may keep it.

I really like what you've done there. I have a similar bumper, and the same issue with it mounting an inch too low. I may just have to do this myself. It looks much better.

These old bumpers look great But I'd like to raise mine an inch. My tailgate hinge points and bed are raised, when I close the gate there's a 1 1/2 gap.

Talking Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Worked on the Ramp Rat tonight. Got the electric washer jug plumbed and the screen in the cowl installed. Picked up some epoxy putty to start on the rebuild of the GM steering wheel tomorrow also.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Started to put body molding on, not really digging it seems cheap and flimsy. Not so much the side stuff but for sure the tailgate.

Thumbs up Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Took the old seat out and replaced with a 90 model seat. Put the drivers side harness in have to make a LQ yard run to pick up some more belts. Installed the new strob light also.

Took the hump out and sealed it up good and put more screws in it.
Got to get a rubber mat for it and the inside should be done.

Thank you sir. I'm pleased with how it's looking so far. I just need a rubber floor mat. I have the tilt and steering wheel + the dash pad to install yet but that maybe awhile until I can get the tilt rebuilt.
