Re: What did you do to your truck today!

In the past 2 weeks (that's how long it took me to find this thread again) I've drove my 71 more than ever in the past year.. (daily) broke an axle shaft in the front, ran out of gas, installed driver side battery tray and 2nd optima, bought a Dana 60 and rebuilt it with all the good parts, took the flat bed off and installed the original step side long bed, removed the body lift and installed new cab mounts, built 2 of my bead lock wheels and mounted one tire (which took about an hour of bolt tightening), washed the mud from te truck for a good 5 hours, and refilled with power steering fluid 3 times! I have some pictures, I'll post when I'm to my computer

...adjusted the carb settings to increase idle speed a bit. Then drove it to Mexican for dinner and got a free car wash (it rained).

Ordered all new ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link ends, and axle seals. Now to find the parts to convert to disc brakes!

Cool Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Nothing more prettier than a LWB truck done right. Absolutely Fabulous perfect looking stance. Very well done.
I like the wheels also!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Working on cleaning this up today.
Figured I'd better take some pics and do some labeling before I pulled
all the fuses and started rubbing the markings off.

Glove box is in today, more (and, hopefully) final) adjustments on the Vintage Air
A/C and Defrost cables, some wiring under the dash over by the passenger's side.

Boy, my back's sore.....

I ordered my 5 lug conversion Axel kit from Mikes Bump & Grind Garage...
I cant wait to get them installed & loose the "mixed" rim look I've been running ever since I made my disk swap.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally finished my stainless steel brake lines. They didn't come out exactly how I would have liked, I had to re-bend a stainless "kit" to get them to fit. I changed a few things so it wasn't only problems with the "kit" but I would have been better of bending my own lines from straight sticks of stainless tubing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Been working for three days cleaning on paws truck. Got four shows coming up back to back.Done a few things I have been putting off for a while also.Happened to think about the spare underneath it. I dont think I would trust it anymore though.Original also

I have seen on hoods where the whole thing underneath was semigloss black, then between the braces was painted black, and then painted a solid color like mine what would look best on this one with it being that bright red.I thought paint between the braces satin black.what say you?

Have fun this weekend everyone and be careful on the road.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Are you planning on running a trans cooler? If so, where are you planning on mounting the cooler and how long are those jiffy tite braided hoses? That trans looks great... Is that a stock stall converter?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Already have a cooler in front of, plus the one in; the radiator... but may upgrade to a plate style. Jiffy-tite are like 18" long I think. Convertor is rated 2200-2300 stall with a bbc...but thinking my little 6.0L makes enough it should stall the same or a hair higher.

I'm sure as time goes on, motor makes more power, and I start abusing it more...I'll put some aftermarket parts in. I'd like to know what is different between my 4L85e and the Supermatic 4L85e...then just duplicate it. I just couldn't stretch (+/-$500 more) any further when I bought this one.
