Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Changed out my crappy stock fan for a nicer one. Cleaned my K&N air filter and recharged it. Clean the truck up and drove it to a car show.

Over 100* and the truck was not liking it lol.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

put some fresh gas in the freshly cleaned gas tank. threw a new filter on and started it up. its running like crap. guess the carb got a big drink of the black mess that was in the tank. the new accelerator pump diaphragm was stuck from the mess in the squirter circuit. it wont idle as im sure that circuit is all gunked up to. guess ill be pulling the carb and giving it a soak and a rebuild. this stinks because it was running great for the first 20 minutes till the goo got sucked up. guess its my own fault for not cleaning out the tank. who knows how long this truck sat before we got it. found the power steering setup we just got put on isnt working either. think the used pump is kaput. so today i cursed at the truck and myself, repeatedly! lol! o well tommorow is another day and is supposed to be a bit cooler.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

sjarrett71 : if you are home stay there, if you are a little ways from home drive real slow and go home....if the u joint did not want to go together , you let a needle bearing fall down into the cup and it want go together....pull it back apart and see how many needle brg, are broken inside the cup. if you have a few old good ones you can put it back together and get a good clip...or go get a new one, and put it in....the secret is put a some grease in the cup with the needle brg. to hold them in place while you install them, best to use a vice to start both ,then and socket, the right size....to get them in all the way ..checking while you do this for alinement and if its binding up....hope this helps.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Ran all over town buying a new set of wheels & tires (at least new to me) for my ride and then getting them mounted, balanced then cleaned up. Also bought new shocks and a new set of gauges for my weekend project.

I will try to add a pic with the new rubber...not sure how to do that from my phone though...

I appreciate the info but the u-joint is in correctly, no out of place needle bearings or anything. My problem is the outer edge of the yoke broke off so I can't install the retaining clip. I was trying to get just a little more space to install the clip and pressed too hard, snapping off that outer ring.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed the transmisstion, transfer case, drive shafts, radiator, electric fans, clear side marker lights, and pulled the broken front axle shaft.....very productive evening! Tomorrow, new axle shaft, rehang the exhaust paint the bumpers and rims black. Looks like I'll make the mud run this weekend!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just finished lay-out, forming, creating, and installing my A/C hoses and heater hoses, making a bulkhead plate, bracketing my drier and putting line spacers on. 40 + hours. Everything made, cut and crimped to size.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Went to the trans shop...Trans wasn't ready. Went to Napa to have trans cooler lines made up ($106.).

Went to Manny, Mo, and Jack's for more fluids (of all kinds), a black plastic thingy that holds the fan sensor in the radiator,
an open-plenum carb gasket, some slime floor weep up stuff, and a drop light that I need to replace the one I slammed in the door ($133).

Moved the melted (my bad choice) starter wire, (re) installed the starter and flex plate.

Oh, after putting in the new freeze plugs, we put the motor back in yesterday. The trans had to be outsourced to fix more leaks than I could deal with.
Other than the trans fix in the works, it's all about re-hooking stuff now.

Speaking of hooking up, the truck's been on non-op for a couple of years. Today I got the bill for tags for 12 months. California....$212.
Went to get insurance added at State Farm. $216 for the year for no collision for now. High PL and PD coverages.

When it's painted, or even when body work progresses a little further, we'll jack the coverage up...but for now, we're self-insuring on *our side* of any loss.
I'm just glad I'm close enough to think she's ever gonna be on the road!

Here's yesterday morning:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got my DDM Tuning 6000K HID kit all hooked up. Very easy install. I need to aim my lights and I should be all set.

Thanks. I went with the 35W. It doesn't look so blue after a bit. I have 55W kit on my 2010 Z1000 with 6000K, and that light is amazing.

The HIDs look good! Mine didn't work. Running the new lenses and H4s and they're 100 times better than stock, I could only imagine how good the HIDs are.
