Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Truck has been idling ROUGH all of a sudden. I pulled off the air/fuel mixture screws(Edelbrock 1406) and those puppies were covered with a bunch of gunk. Cleaned those off and the truck idles a little better now. I think I need to give the carb a good cleaning and adjusting though.

Added some C10 emblems and took the boy out for a ride. Can't beat 75 degrees in February.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Today I finally had time to start polishing the trucks paint. I'm happy with the results from a few hours of work, its not exactly super shiny by any means but its a huge improvement over how oxidized the paint was. It at least looks like the trucks red now. Some of the paint is probably too far gone but I'm hoping with a little more work I can get some more shine out of it.

Remember to wax each panel after you've polished it else the paint will soon look worse than it did before .

I like this rig .

Thanks man and yea I think one more time going over it with polish then a coat of wax will get it about where I want it or at least as good as this paint will ever be.

Upper radiator hose, pump to carb fuel line.
Realized the radiator and thermostat housing are dying, and I have a ton of cleaning to do.
I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Putting around in Old blue.

I have no experience with budgeting with a wife. It helps, since my budget is so small to start with.

I try and get them out of 2007-12 GM trucks. I have two more complete units.

toolboxchev,
you talking about a mirror not working?

If so what's the problem? I have all the diagrams for the different hook ups. The wiring is basic but the connectors are a little different depending on the models.
I have also found some sensor want read right with some of the mirrors I have.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

NH temps have been in the mid 60's, so I got motivated to work on the truck today.

I replaced my steering gear last summer, but the steering was getting sloppy again by fall. I then garaged it for the winter.

Today I hooked up a rope to the steering wheel so I could move it back and forth while underneath. I found that all 4 bolts on the steering gear were loose and it was moving up and down when I turned the wheel. 1 bolt had backed out about 1/2 and inch.

I replaced all 4 bolts and lock washers and torqued them to spec. I will keep a closer I on it when driving season returns in April.

I also replaced the center Yankee 77 marker light with a better one I picked up last fall.

You should check your frame for cracks at the bolt holes. They tend to crack when the bolts are loose.

The frame looks fine, but I am wondering if the bolt holes are out of round from things moving around. One of the bolts I replaced looked like it was beat up by side to side movement.

A nice day for once so I pulled into the car port and put in my restored hood hinges. Nice to get some good, firm hinges in.
