Re: What did you do to your truck today!

After the eight freeze plug install, the motor's back in. After the leakage at all ports was diagnosed and (knock on wood) plugged professionally ,
the trans is back in. Driveline is all hooked up. All the stuff is hooked back up to the trans. All the throttle linkage, kick down,
and enough of the electrical is in to start 'er up.

Fluids (the bane of my recent existence) are back in and she fired right up.
Dry as a bone......

A hard, hot day. A good day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I finally had a little free time to mess with the truck today. I mounted my e-fans to the shroud, the shroud to the radiator, and dropped it in the truck for mock-up. I was able to get the replacement stepside fenders sanded and ready for paint/install too but I'm waiting until the '66 style tail lights with brackets come in tomorrow to do it all at once. I think next will be the steering column. I really need to blast those radiator brackets and repaint. I have so many new parts sitting around just waiting to be put in. Just not enough time!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Pulled it out of my garage and polished the new rims I got last week. Other than that It has been to hot to do anything.
A question for you all. If you choke a smurf what color will he turn, and how do they get the deer to cross at the deer crossing signs and what is a PED. I see PED crossings all the time and have never seen one. Has anyone seen a PED. Something to think about.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

reinstalled the rebuilt Holley, fired it up, ran ruff, pulled the plugs they were trashed, did a compression check, everything great there, put some new plugs in again, fired it up, much better, dialed in the carb and its running much better now. Dad pulled the drivers side rear control arm that was completely rotten and swapped in a very nice used one i found. he also got the urethane bushing installed in the arm and track bar. he even got the passenger side arm removed and down to the blaster for a quick cleanup. it was 100 deg here again today and i must say the old man was gettin after it!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I actually worked on it. New front brake pads, packed the wheels and replaced the passenger side upper control arm shaft and ball joint. Now everything in the front end and steering is new except the lower control arm shafts and right inner tie rod end.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I replaced all three u-joints and the carrier bearing. Got a question though, while pressing in one side of the u joint I broke the outer ring on the yoke. The ring I'm talking about is where the retainer clip fits into. How long can I expect the u-joint cap to stay in without the retainer clip?

(Yesterday, actually.) I had my older son wash the truck, and I waxed it after supper. No pics yet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Started trimming ther cross brace on my bed to clear the new blazer tank. Also skim coated some filler of the welds of my old gas filler, filler panel.

Thats about all I got done yesterday, 111 with the humidity kept me in most of the day.

When I get home today, I'll finish cutting the brace, and install the LMC headlight wiring harness that the UPS man should be dropping off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Kinda of a catch up on the last couple weeks on my 72. I pulled the blown 307 out of it last week and started cleaning up the frame and decided to add power steering since I had all the parts laying around. Today I started replacing the hardlines to the front brakes that I couldn't get to easily before, that and the drivers side one had rusted through. I then pulled the door on the drivers side and drilled and cut out the old rusty rocker and mocked it up with the new one and clamps to check fitment. Got started welding in the inner rocker, but heat and a storm moving in kinda stopped me. I've got to cut out the rusted floor and need to order my cab supports and cab corners and most of the drivers floor board.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I spent $5 on black Gorrilla tape. I put the tape in the lower trim all the way around the truck (with a little trimming). It looks worlds better than the heavily faded woodgrain that was in the trim.

This is my temporary fix until I finally save enough money to have the truck repainted and get new trim.
