Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Do you have a parts list for everything necessary for a ls swap? I'm sure there is one on the board here somewhere but obviously I haven't had enough coffee this morning because it's evading me . I may have found a deal on a low mile ls2/4l70e combo that came out of a tbss and it's almost too good to pass up. If I get it I may be single and homeless when the wife finds out

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Hey all;
I went down to the pick-a-part I bought the 2005 Silverado radiator and electric fan from and exchanged them for a radiator and electric fan out of a 2002 camaro. This will solve the fitment issue I was having and I may not have to move the engine, we will see. |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
I'm not the first guy to put this cooling combo in a c10 with a vortec or LS1 and I haven't heard any negatives about it so I'm pretty sure it's going to work just fine but I will certainly give you a definative answer one way or the other after it's running.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Hey all;
I removed the fan clutch and fan from the water pump pulley today, it was easier than I thought it would be. There is 4 small holes in the pulley so I just took a clothes hanger and threaded it through one of the holes and wrapped it around the alternator pulley and used a adjustable wrench and turned it counter clockwise and it came right off with no struggle at all. |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Glad to see you making some progress. Way to think on the clothes hanger. I used a small c-clamp on the pulley and then a adjustable wrench. Good thing you have a low mile engine. Those things can be a huge pita sometimes

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Hey all;
Yesterday I drained the differential fluid and installed the new chrome cover. Today I trimmed the brake hose bracket then I painted and installed it. Enjoy. Last edited by Xeen; 07-23-2013 at 01:34 PM. |
