Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This is what I got next for the truck. Illuminated door lock cylinders from a caddy.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Wow you are going all out!
Do those stay illuminated all the time or do they have a sensor?
Pretty cool stuff you are doing.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

There is a sensor on the door button. When you push it when the door is locked they come on for 30 seconds.

I just read your build and I am absolutely stunned! Your imagination with using options from other GM cars is unbelievable. Great job Rod!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Thanks. You know the more I mess with gm options the more I see gm made so many pieces interchangeable from the 60's to 90's and not just engine parts. I enjoy trying to make it look like the truck came stock with these options. It's fun.

I got my Locks finished. When I'm done my tool box lock will illuminate like the door locks do.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I did one with the po3 dog dish caps. I have both set of caps so I will probably switch between them.

I like those even better.

Those locks are slick too.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I had locdoc get me 2 kits and I don't have part #'s for those but if you search "optic lock" on ebay you will find some nos kits. I bought a kit with a black and stainless cover. I might use the black cover on the tool box lock if it stands out too much and takes away from the smooth lines of the side moulding.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I decided the dog dish caps are out so it will be between these 2. I try to dislike that white roof but I just can't. I like the red white and black together .

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Well, there went a chunk of my morning. But a chunk well spent. What an incredible restoration of our favorite GM vehicle, and also a veritable history lesson of other similar period GM engineering. Thanks for that.

As for the roof - this is a TUXEDO truck. I would drive this to the ball in a tuxedo, with Cinderella.

Tuxedos need some white.

All black is classy yes, but on truck, kind of plain.

My humble opinion, and I appreciate your quandry. With your attention to detail, it is not a decision to be taken lightly.

Unbelievable work. Looking forward to seeing it done, and maybe in real life some day.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Got my headliner front sms today. The last piece and it oly took 4 years to get it all. This is the second one done for me as I sent the first one back cause it was the wrong color and grain. This time they sent me 2. Bonus and now it's correct with my other vinyl.

Got my signal, tilt and shift levers rechromed. Now my cruise control button will be on the shift lever on the telescopic column.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I think I'm going to put a blackcap on the tool box lock so it doesn't break up the smooth look of the mouldings. It will still light up like the door locks.
