Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

On Saturday I ran her out to the 20th. annual Our Lady of the Lake Car show in Bay St. Louis, MS. hosted by the Misfits Cruise Club - 256 cars and trucks entered. It was just a BEAUTIFUL day. Right on the water, great weather, great view and great food. I did not place, but really don't care - way too many nicer trucks and cars.

The trees along Beach Blvd. were badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, so the various towns and cities that make up the Gulf Coast had the trees carved into various things, the Church choose to have angles Carved.

Finally got the window fitted. Took it out and primered it thaen sprayed rubberized under coating on the areas that where bare metal from the factory.

Put it back in and glued the top seam and started welding the rest of the spot welds.

I still have to dress up the welds and finish cutting the outside panel out

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Oh, I was so busy drooling on everyone else's beautiful trucks, I forgot about my own old man. Changed out the sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor on Friday. Runs like a new truck! Those old plugs were pretty grubby though. Seems to me the old man is burning a bit of oil. So, looks like time to buy some chemtool to put in the fuel. Gotta keep them new plugs clean and firing properly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

After almost a year I finally got around to painting my rear bumper. Honestly might like the black better after all...

Next step is to finish up the interior paint and start reassembly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Got the engine and transmission pulled and old xmember dropped out, not enough time to put the new xmember in though...also tried my hand in the fauxtina paint job(all rattle can). Started with cream or black depending on where I was on the truck, then red oxy primer, then the color and wet sanded off to my liking. The body on my truck was far from perfect and my pockets aren't deep, $51.00 in paint and sanding blocks is what I have in it. Only got the doors and one fender sanded so far. Hopefully will get the rest sanded and paint logos on this week.

Finally got far enough into the wiring to install the instrument cluster. Did a quick light and high beam switch test.

Keep it very subtle like you have it.
The ones where they sand out too many random spots just doesn't look right.
Some knock fauxtina, but I like the practicality of it.

Seat cover that I had for about 2 years on my 64 GMC was torn up beyond use from daily driving. New one showed up today and I am quite happy with it.

Not today but yesterday. I´m going to test-fit some sheet-metal on my -62 C10 Panel before welding and straighten the side of the truck. 1/4" bondo.

We got the rear window opening cut out to match the inside panel. It looks like a whole new truck. I cut out a section of the front panel to start reparing.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I installed the new NOS distributor I got from forum member chevy2inreno on the 250 6-banger on Sunday. Checked initial timing on the old one, was set at about 8 degrees BTDC. Spec is 4 BTDC, but I've heard from old GM mechanics that timing should be advanced to just before pinging starts on regular gas with this motor.
So installed the new distributor and set initial timing at the same 8 BTDC. Drove the truck to work today- HOLY CRAP! what a difference. Way more acceleration, should have done this a long time ago, but I though the old distributor was OK.
Think I've got the Rochester B and the spark timing dialed in pretty good now.
