Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
Love the build thread and the detail on the body work pics. I recently acquired a 58 BBW SB Fleetside and can't wait to see you guys finish up this winter. Need a video of you guys driving it around when completed. Rock on!

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
sideways pictures really irk me, get a new computer they said, it will be fun they said. I have no clue. lol. Anyways, the left door, rt door, rt fender and hood are all done so far, I am currently working on the front bumper, not a fan of it. Then Friday nigth Don and tyler pulled the transmission out of it because third would not hold, so a friend of mine that is a tranny expert is going through it and rebuilding it.

If I want to put cables in to hold tailgate I am thinking I have narrow tailgate on the inside lip to have room for cables any opinions out there

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
Great work guys! James, yep, you're still doing sweet work.
On the tail gate, yeah, it looks like you may have to make a little area for the cables to tuck into when the gate is shut.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1378859745 I went with 1/8 aluminum straps and I did have to cut a recess in the edge of the tailgate. I started to use cables but decided to go this way.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
looking really good don, i like the corner bracing in the box, starting to think like a bodyman i see!! I like the aluminum strap idea, that would work just fine. Or you can find some original ones and use them from the old green truck say. Oh and a little update on the trans, it was taken apart today and the third clutch pack had about 1/4" of play in it, no wonder it wouldn't hold in third. should be better now, and maybe it is geting a couple of upgrades while we are at it! hehe

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project
Look at my build thread, I used Ford Cables from Oriellys. you have to take off a little from the tailgate inside lip if you want the cables concealed in the tailgate space.

Looks good!!! I like it. Seems like that old green truck has come in handy. And who says we have too much junk. I don't think we can ever. Especially since there is room for it. Hehe.
