Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

We made the AC lines today, they took some time. waiting on a new dryer to arrive then we’ll be done with that
Also finished the hinged center grill and glovebox door.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

We spent the day fiddling with the AC lines, had to order another $51 in fittings! The dryer came in today, we wasted no time in putting it in. Christian spent an hour being frustrated by the corner window installation, more on that tomorrow

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

We put the back glass in today
Installed the 02 Silverado throttle cable
Installed the hood for the final time
put the chrome back on the hood
an overall shot of how we left her tonight
I’m hoping we’re about 2 weeks out at this point!

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

we spent the whole day shopping at the junk yard, and got most of the parts to finish your truck. Have to go back tomorrow for a passenger door window and the gauge cluster. Didn’t have the correct tools. The only item I haven’t found is the drivers door glass. Still looking for that.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

so we started work on the Speedometer today
Had quite an eventful day today. We were welding on the Transmission tunnel and forgot that the nylon fuel line runs right underneath it. But not to worry, the fire reminded us! Exhausted both fire extinguishers and the fire was still going. Got it out with bottled water just as the fire Department got there. In the end the only casualty was 18 or so inches of fuel line.
Decided to just do both doors in new glass. Found a YouTube video that explains the framing pretty well.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

looking great!

when I need glass and frames I just get em from lmc, its not as cheap as buying new glass and putting it in old frames, but if i dont have the frames its not really much more expensive.

speedo looking good! will the needle clear the chrome ring? mine didnt

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

The AC lines are nearly built and should be done tomorrow
We finished welding the center hump and will finish the top tomorrow
on wed I go to Sedalia to bring one of the windshield pieces to Mark's Mobile Glass for a template to cut the new windshields.
And I gave the speedometer template to Central logo today to make the faceplate decals

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

For today’s progress we made a few bends in the brake pedal so that it cleared the steering column
we also finished the Transmission tunnel and painted the floor, that was like a 3.5hr project!

And installed the back half of the driveshaft
We then made a set of 6.5” speaker boxes for the kick panels
And installed them (painting the kick panels in bedliner, like the floors)

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.

we made up for yesterday by not making a whole lot of picture worthy progress today. We spent the day replacing your entire fuel system from the pump forward. (fire damage).
We did start laying the sound and heat barrier. We’ll finish it Monday.
