Re: S10 Swap how to
I have a question concerning wheel size and back spacing. I know most people run 2 inch spacers up front and swap to a 4X4 rearend as I did on "FRED". On my new build I am really considering going with Detroit steel or Coys new c33 smoothies, if I have figured/measured right I can have 4.5 backspacing on a 9 or 10 inch wide wheel (for a deep outside lip) and not run any spacers or swap out my rearend. Thanks for your help fellers.

I didnt run spacers on my GMC, and dont plan to on the 49. I didnt even switch to a 4x4 rear on either. backspacing is the key, like you said. I used 0 offset fronts (7" wide 4" backspace) and -12 offset rears (8" wide 4" backspace) and they looked just right. if you call mobsteel spend some time talking to them about exactly what you want. and if you have seen an AD with mobsteels tell them, they keep excellent records of who they sold to and for what application. I ordered some for my friend and mentioned the truck with mobsteels he was trying to emulate, they knew the widths and backspacing and even the front and rear axle widths of the truck. then he said the caps wouldnt fit without modfying them and sent a fedex call tag to pick up the caps, modified them, and sent them back with the wheels. I havent had a better experience with a company before that or since.

Re: S10 Swap how to
Which are the three pumps you're looking at? Internal, external, why not go to the manufacturer and look at the pump curve information and see which one works best for you.

I am here and able your to answer your questions. I'm back by not 100%. Unfortunately I don't know the answer to your question. It is not like I can run to my shop and check now is it.

Re: S10 Swap how to
Great information!. I am new to this thread and ready to start a 1948 GMC truck chassis swap. Will a 1994 S10 2 wheel drive, 4 door Blazer with 117" wheelbase work as well as the S10 Truck chassis?

Re: S10 Swap how to
Bisett, from what I have read it is not the best frame to use for a pickup swap since it rises up in the bed area. There are a few threads that address this, as well as a bunch of others that have a lot of info. Here is a partial list of threads I'm subscribed to. Sorry to those who are not listed, but I subscribe to about 30 and don't want to overwhelm this thread. These are the most recent with posts...
For the 117" wheelbase, most have gone with the regular cab longbed when using an S10 chassis. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=632686 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=562572 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=531261 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=676497 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=609082 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=384736 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=642010 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=651164

Re: S10 Swap how to
Yes msaintg has a great thread for a 4x4 Blazer frame swap. They do not rise up in the bed area. If you look at the pics in the thread he ends up with a low riding stance and only gives up about an inch of bed depth.
I have a 1951 3100 and swapped it onto a 2001 Blazer 4x4 frame. Like msaintg I took off all the front wheel drive stuff and am just using 2 wheel drive. I had to shorten the frame 9" to get to 116". Most of what you see for S10 pickup swaps will apply. |

Re: S10 Swap how to
Hope you're doing well Chris, and to have a speedy recovery. Just to keep this thread updated with more info, anyone using any other ideas for a throttle pedal? s10 assembly was destroyed upon removing from the donor car I had and I may need to opt to another option.
This has been a fun project for me and cannot thank Chris enough for his efforts in gathering his knowledge to the community. Thanks bud! |

Re: S10 Swap how to
For those of you that have put an LS motor (LM7 in my case) onto the S10 chassis, do you have spec for which steering hose you used for the high pressure side? Here is a picture of the fittings I need to meet up with.
Thanks for any input.

Re: S10 Swap how to
Thanks for the input guys, and Chris, I'm glad to hear you are back-at least in some capacity. I ended up having a hose made, so one more project is crossed off my list.

Re: S10 Swap how to
my recovery is going as well as can be expected. Right now I'm using Dragon speak and a head mouse. I'm still in a wheelchair, but I can walk with my Walker. I was in a coma for two months so my muscles have atrophy.
