Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

Osker, I'm interested in the rubber mat in your 2nd picture. You mentioned you replaced it - were you able to find one just like it? Any awareness to the truck's history? Super's of course came with carpet, but I've always wondered if perhaps there were any dealer installs of rubber mats at customer request. My 72 has the exact same mat.

Hi Jocko, I am afraid I misled you about the mat. It did have carpet but it was too far gone when I got it to keep it around so I just pulled it out when cleaned it out and pitched it. The mat I put in is just a the replacement mat from LMC IRRC. I went with the mat because half the year its constantly wet here in western WA.

The houndstooth seat cover is starting to deteriorate or more accurately disintegrate pretty fast now. I wrapped it in a green Mexican blanket for now.

I picked it up from a guy just across the Narrows Bridge on the Kitsap Peninsula which is Northwest of the Tacoma area. He told me it started out new in eastern WA in a town called Othello so that’s why it has such faded paint, eastern WA is the high desert. Then it was out on the Olympic Peninsula at Lake Cushman area, it was last registered in 2007. The guy I bought it from had it for 2 weeks, he got it from his friend (supposedly second owner, but not verified) who had it for around 15 years and had it stored inside at his property on Lake Cushman area. Used it for trash runs so the story goes. He said his friend had the engine rebuilt at a community college auto tech course about 16 years ago. It started, ran and stopped fine and wasn't terribly hacked up so I scooped it up because I would most likely not come across another opportunity to buy a Cheyenne Super. The engine isn't original but that's OK with me, she runs decent enough and it's not a mess. She has a block code of 3916323 which is a '68 Nova/Chevelle/Camaro block from what I could reference.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!

My 1972 short box 4 X 4. It came with the “Protector Plate” warranty card. Originally sold out of Phoenix AZ. Came medium green out of the factory. One thing that stumps me is the upper cab (roof) has what looks to be original green paint under the white respray. Still has the original rockers and cab corners though they need attention after 50 years! (Happy birthday to all the 72’s out there.) The original owner was a pilot, still has the stickers on it.

Typical options for a Cheyenne Super; auto, tilt, AC, etc. One unique option is factory rear slider. Don’t see that very often.

As you can see I still use the truck for work and play!

(To those who have skills please rotate the first picture.)

is there room here for badly abused ones? I have 2 Longhorns that are Supers. The C20 was just for parts and all I can find at the moment is the spid pic. The C30 is in storage for now.

Richard, that ochre Longhorn has always been one of my favorites on here. What a cool truck - Cheyenne Super C30 Longhorn with buckets, AM/FM, big block, tach posi... Wow.

Awesome! Cheyenne Super Longhorns are very, very, hard to find. I know where there is almost a twin to your ochre one but it is white.

Let's keep the Longhorn trend going. Here is my GMC version that has been K swapped.

I did manage to find a picture of the orange/white one from the day I brought it home. It had cheyenne 30 badges on the fenders but the title decoded to a 20

Another real nice one Richard. That camper shell is awesome - very few of the Longhorn-length toppers just lying around these days. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks
I need to do something with it soon. The outer shell is in great shape but the wooden inner structure needs rebuild.
