Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

at least daydreaming is still free....
well, dont look like a lot, but i got almost all the hard points squared away. got the hood opened, stretched frame & int tub, scabbed what was left of the sneaky pete firewall in there, & got a big block 4 spd happening. just got to whip up a rad support, then spend a bunch of time pretty-ing it all up....
and built chevy tough, dropped it on the floor, expected to see my multi-piece body become multi-piece again, just cracked the front window

It looks like it coming together really nice even with all your other chores. It's cool you have a dry place to store your camper.

i ordered a flame mask off fleabay for it, undecided wether to order 37" MT baja claws, or 44" boggers for it

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

It's looking great, it's hard to believe it's two blazers put together. My dad proposed to my mom while they were having a picnic under a railroad bridge. The location of that bridge was inudated by lake Oroville. I think I was about 13 or 14 that spot was out of the water and we had a family picnic there. A lot of my family history is around Oroville/Paradise area. Theres road by the old family ranch that is named after our family (Welsh Rd). I'll shut up before I bore you with too much family history.....lol

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

not boring! i find family history interesting
i would imagine water must be expensive there right now....
it was actually an article about food prices going up due to the drought your having that took me to lake oroville....another effect to the dryness...

and still dicking around with the sub before paint
thought the hood was too plain. was able to slice this out of .020 without cutting threw or breaking it....knife did slip in the middle there though & left a "repair" mark there...

made a axe & shovel for the rack. there's a scale hi-lift jack online i would love to get, but with ship/exchange, $45 is pretty hard to justify....and i dont think my eyes could drill that many holes....

not 100% sure on bumpers. like stock bumpers, but their not beefy enough for this sub. was going to make one, but might adapt part of this bar & use (my favourite) the stock bumper

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

Thanks, my family history in California goes back before the gold rush. Mostly Oroville and Humbug in Plumas County. Where I've noticed the increased prices is Hay bales. Straw hay is almost $10.00 a bale. A couple years ago you could buy alfalfa for half that. The hood bracing is a great detail. The roof rack is looking great. Great work and awesome detail as usual. My vote is the guard and stock bumpers

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

wow, you've got some time there!
my grandpa came to the valley in the late 1890's, but my dad spent a good part of his life back east before coming back to the valley and having me. he has 20 acres up north he's building his retirement home on, used to buy, now he grows his own hay for his herd ... (2 holsteins)

on the downhill slide now
rack is done. put little hooks on the side braces so i can add or move stuff around

modified the bar a bit and changed the mounts (off the amt '84 gmc)
was going to use skyjacker shock decals but after i reduced them they were just red blobs...
pretty much everything but the body is there, hoping to get it painted soon, some minor touch-ups to do

and here's something different, a f**d.... actually 2 f**ds. couple old glue bombs i been robbing parts off for yrs.
some real f**d fanatics on my model website who love these trucks, so i'll make an extended cab, just the cab (primed), if i got time (and it dont cut into the '59 elky) mite also stretch the frame, then swap it off for some chevy parts.
with our buck in the toilet, it's just not feasible to order parts right now.....
a $2 transfer case is almost $24 shipped & exchanged-yikes!....might have to go back to drinking full time....

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

not much longer now Dale, another day, maybe 2 & the sub will be done!
and yeah, is'nt the prices retarded? transfer case is $2, but my caster jacked his ship rates from $9 to $15, now your at $17 for the t-case, then go here....

https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid...ey%20converter

now you have a $24 t-case...
found another guy who ships for $9, will see what he has....

while i was waiting for the paint on the sub to dry, did the '53 f100. just going to do the body & frame real quick, then see if i can use it to finance some more chevy's elky IS coming!
