Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

Welp, swapped the lockup solenoid and pwm in the trans and the engine stalling issue is still there. I'm pretty sure it's the torque converter itself now. Getting a new one and hopefully that'll do it. Gonna be fun dropping the trans on this truck...lol

What do you have the idle set at? I'm sure with your cam it should probably be 850-900 rpm. Can you email me a copy of the tune?

I had a professional tuner work with it for hours and could not overcome the load put on the motor when put in gear. We tried all sorts of options for increasing the idle and park and then drive and everything. There's definitely a trans issue.

Gotcha. What torque converter do you have in it?

It's a 2200 stall that came with the trans. Not sure the brand. It looks like a precision but I was told it was not. The trans company is sending me a new TC.

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

I hear ya, but I have to install this one at least once to make sure that it fixes the problem. If it doesn't, they are still liable to fix my trans if its the pump or something else wrong with it. I would hate to sell the TC for another one and it still not work. I'll just drop the trans again down the road if I an unhappy. Just want this problem fixed first

hope this does it,
otherwise the only thing that would fix this is for you to exchange it (the entire truck)
with fellow board member kvn1011, in the long run it will make kvn1011 feel as tho he has won the lottery lol
just kidding hope you get it worked out!!
and keep posting pics!!

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

I haven't posted an update in a while! It turns out the new torque converter I got did not work. After pulling my transmission out three separate times and installing it three separate times, I found out the torque converter I was using was too small. I put in a taller stall and it seems to have fixed my problems. The truck is basically finished now just need the interior and a few odds and ends!

Looks awesome!!! I'd love to see/hear it rolling! That video you posted a while back of the first fire...

What happened with the Cub Tubz? I thought you had those all painted and ready to go?

Re: "Old Olive" 1970 C10 porterbuilt build

Thanks guys! Finally getting to enjoy the truck now.

Yes I have the chub tubz, just need to get them back on. I had to remove them to get the bedfloor in and completed.

Something about those wheels, I have always liked them on a stock looking (slammed) truck.

Nicely done!!
