When I was a kid crossing NM with my folks on 66/40, we stopped at a gas station during a sandstorm. The guy filling our tank said that it was just some "enchantment."

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
For some reason I can eat hot peppers all day long but it's the mild ones that mess me up (Bell peppers, Pepperoncini's).
I have a friend that is an older guy. He can eat hot peppers with no side effects at all. I had some Dragon peppers and he just munched away at them like they were candy. And those things were scorching hot.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
My oldest sister moved to Taos in the '70s. She became a well known silversmith/jewelry maker. Then around 1980 my youngest sister went out and learned the craft from her. My oldest sister passed away in '91. My youngest now lives in the Santa Fe area, still makes jewelry. Anyway, I have been connected with that area and it's chili powder a long time. I guess it's that heritage seeds thing. Peppers there like nowhere else! I'm glad to say that up to this point I can handle the spicy hot as well as ever. I think there are health benefits... other than that red rim thing sometimes

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Huh, I was there for a while early spring in '80. I met a gal who worked in the ski valley in winter and went to work on a fishing boat spring-fall. It was her and her friend. Neither looked too shabby, either. I was impressed. I imagine they were pretty good at handling themselves around men.

There were several historic places managed by the same group, one of which was the Kit Carson house where I met this gal. She also worked at another old adobe house (can't remember the name) off the SW corner of the plaza. One time we went to a bar out on the south end of town where some other local gal was singing. She was as good as Joan Baez or Judy Collins but I guess she never went anywhere with it. I got to go out with my friend and her boss and look through a barn full of a bunch of historical stuff that they didn't have room to display. I think I might have even helped them move some stuff with my pickup? Anyway another time we went to an old place out west of town that they were fixing up. I got to see how they made the adobe floors in the traditional way. Her boss and his wife had sort of "adopted" my gal friend since she was from ABQ. I think they really wanted her and I to get together long term but it didn't happen, and I had to get over that. So, what I did today not on my truck is dig up a bunch of memories

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I dont get to the Taos, Santa Fe area of the state very much, that’s a pretty good hike from the four corners. Today I busted out of the land of entrapment (please don’t tell Adolf Grisham on me) and took the family and Camaro up to Durango for the day. We did some grocery shopping, walked along the animas river, and had lunch at serious Texas bbq.(not as good as Tyler’s bbq but still pretty tasty none the less) we had a pretty great day. It was nice to get the Camaro out, I haven’t driven it in at least a month and a half as it’s mostly put away for winter.
Here’s the view from the patio we ate on at the bbq joint.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I’ve had some good times in Taos. Saw a great Peter Rowan show there years ago. Spent a snowy night with a friend and his family in the Pueblo itself. Climbed the wood ladders, fired up the fire stove. That was special.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I never visited the Pueblo I was working way down about halfway between Angel Fire and Mora. Did spend a night camping out on the rim above the Rio Grande about halfway up towards Questa one time, though ...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Tyler, I told you the story about my wife and the Harley Davidson mechanic in Farmington. On the way back home we rode through Taos, but we were in a hurry and didn't even stop. We told ourselves we would go back, but haven't marked that off the list yet.
I our spring trip works out we may just check it out. One of my friends bought a Jeep yesterday, so I took him exploring along the Buffalo River this afternoon. My wife was wrapping presents so she hung out here at home.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
My wife was wrapping presents today too. She gave me "The look" and asked me why I wasn't helping.
Silly girl. She ought to know better. My idea of wrapping is taking the receipt out of the shopping bag.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
You're supposed to go and get one of those shiny bags from her stash. The ones with the tissue paper still in them. After enough years of mockery about badly wrapped presents, that's what I do. Or have it wrapped at the mall. I made a pair of earrings from mahogany and carved to look like acanthus leaves for my wife for her birthday. They were not wrapped at all.

Larry, It’s definitely worth the time to go. I do really enjoy the architecture and culture of that area. There’s a lot of cool history and sites to see. I doubt you’ll regret it.

So I was unable to solve the mystery of replacing my Daughter's Mini Cooper wiper blades.
It says that they fit 96% of vehicles..They don't fit hers. I hate that car. Drank 1/2 bottle of Crown watching the Giants beat a good football team for the first time this year. |

I got back to my move the barn project. It's all dug out now including the roots
I dug piers where the posts will sit and one more in between each of those. This past weekend I formed up the wall, tied steel, and poured. I need to get pictures of that. I forgot to get any of that progress. Step by step
