Re: Project...praise the lowered
i was back at it today.first this morning went shopping.got some exhaust stuff, misc steel, and finally some carpet.cant wait to get at the interior.then i spent the rest of the day in the shop.i got the inside box sides primed and coated with box liner, bent aluminum end pieces for my enclosure then fought them in place.it looks way better in person.so clean.before i left i moved on to patching the inner box side where the tail gate mounts.after tomorrow the box should be ready for final paint and the wood floor.

Re: Project...praise the lowered
yup.im just crazy enough to try it haha.it wasnt that bad.the simple way to do it with the newer short box frame is to move the axle ahead 4 inches, modify the front frame horns for the rad support,make/modify the body mounts, and depending how far the swap was to go ..brake lines, wiring, steering column, new fuel tank ect.

Re: Project...praise the lowered
quick update.sunday i spent the day crossing a bunch of stuff off the list.most of it would make for boring pictures so i didnt really take any.i drilled holes in my enclosure for air lines, mounts for tank and compressor, wire holes, then i moved on to finishing the tail gate mount, then i went under the truck to install my exhaust.what a pain.some spots was aim the welding whip through a small opening and press the trigger against the frame to spot weld.ugly but sealed.then today after work i cut a hole in my enclosure for the gas tank filler neck then it was on to cutting a big ol hole in the passenger box side for the exhaust side exit.i didnt have time to finish it but so far it looks great.

Re: Project...praise the lowered
the updates just keep flowing in.today i ran my battery cables into the bed enclosure, finished fabricating and welding the exhaust, made an aluminum exhaust exit, and got a good start to the carpet on the drivers side.

Re: Project...praise the lowered
That exhaust is sweet! Kinda fits the theme with the shotgun intake. That's my style too! I put a side exit exhaust on the ole straight six. Sound unique that's for sure! I need to redo it though, but going to keep it that way. I really like the way yours is tucked up into the bed with the aluminum cutout. Nice touch. Here's mine

Re: Project...praise the lowered
thanks fellas.all i used on the whole build was basic tools.for the aluminum...tin snips, hand held electric shears,a 2ft break ,drill, body hammer, block of wood, any sharp corner or round pipe laying around for bending longer stuff and about the only specialty tool is a bead roller.wish i had an english wheel and a power hammer.then i would make real cool stuff.so anyways,i didnt work on the beast yesterday.had to take it off for the first day of fishing season.fishmas day.but i did get a little more done to the overflow tank cover.hope to be back at it tomorrow.

Re: Project...praise the lowered
Nice work man! That is a 3" tip 18" long I think. It has a nice deep rumble actually but at cruising speed had kinda a non turbo'd diesel sound. Pretty cool I thought. I need to take a video of it. Again nice fab work. Looks like you got a lottttt of polishing to do!

Re: Project...praise the lowered
a little more progress today.and yesterday.yesterday i aired the truck to about ride height and set my rear end pinion angle with a digital level.nothing too exciting so no pics.then today on my way home from work i had a few mins to kill in the shop so i made the drivers side inner fender.i got real technical and used a peice of pipe clamped to the bench and my knee to form the shape i needed.a little more trimming, bead rolling, and smoothing and it should be ready for polish.
