Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!
Hey all!
I got the cab & front fenders all scuffed, scotch-brited, wiped-down, masked-off, & de-greased! I also dropped a cool grand on paint & clear this week! I gotta do the same for the hood & grill support, then I will be ready for some more paint action! Just a few more pics to keep you all happy! Next week this time, I hope to have the front-half in paint!

Can't wait to see the results from next week. Awesome job as always.
I couldn't help but laugh at the caster layin under the cab but then I caught a glimps at the '69 Camaro fender off to the right. |

The caster is wedged into the seam in the concrete to keep my cart from rollin down the apron to the garage, pretty ingenious, eh? That's actually an entire '69 X-11 car. My buddies so-called project car. A shame, I actually parked it there over 20 years ago, under it's own power...He hasn't touched it since, and won't sell it. I tried to purchase it before I bought my truck....I think maybe that the idea hit too close to home for him, and he didn't want for me to restore it, then end-up painting it for me.

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!
Well Guy's,
I guess that it has been about a week since i have posted, and time for me to make a contribution to the forum. Some good things have happened this past week. It seems that the planets are all starting to align or something. I got all of my prep work for paint done, and my Porterbuilt components are starting to trickle in! Here is a glimpse of what we did yesterday morning! I am beside myself right now! These photos (truck-porn to me!) do absolutely NO justice to what it looks like in person. I have showed these pics to a few people, and then took them over to see for themselves, and all have had the same response: "I cannot believe that it would be possible to get such fine results from within a backyard garage"!!!! My hat is off to my great friend Tom & his painting skills, but even he says that "it is all in the prep work". Sure, it will get a slight sand, & rub job, but I woulda done that anyway, regardless! I am gonna try to get some additional pics today in the sunlight if possible, so stay tuned!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!
Spent the entire day transporting painted parts from from Tom's garage to the build garage...Don't want to scratch or ding anything!
Let me tell you, I haven't been this nervous transporting anything since I brought my first-born home from the hospital after birth! It looks super-nice outside! Everything went exceptionally well this weekend. Now I have more to do than I can handle! Right now I feel like I am taking a sip of water using a fire-hose!!!! Here are a few pics with the 14 miles of tape & a thousand feet of paper removed!
