Project: Rufus Restoration

Maybe it's just me as I get older, but the Black Widow mufflers were a little too much for me. They sounded great at idle, but that was where it ended for me. The claim is true, there's absolutely no drone, and at highway speed, they're essentially silent. The problem for me was from 1500-3000 rpm. The raspy cackling sound just isn't my thing. With all that being said, I made the jump back to my Magnaflows. They are mellow at idle and cruising and come alive at WOT. Perfect for a night out with the wife or hauling the babies around.

On a side note, we've had the opportunity to add another classic to the stable, 1952 Pontiac Chieftain. This old Poncho is in pretty solid shape and is mostly original. It had a restoration about 45 years ago and has been stored indoors since 1983. She runs and drives pretty well for a boat.

I gave the ol girl one final wash tonight and sent her off to her new home. Hopefully he enjoys this truck as much as I have.

I was a little torn on selling it and still a little bit in shock myself, but it just kind of made sense right now. If I can find something with more seats, then I will get more seat time! Plus, I'm ready for a new project. If anyone knows of a 60-72 Burb that's ready for a new home, send them my way!

With an empty spot in the garage, I've got the itch to get going on the next project. I've had this truck for a few years now, and she's been patiently waiting her turn. It belonged to my wife's grandmother and it was also part of our wedding. It's only fitting that it eventually ended up in our garage. I'll start a build thread over in Alternate Tinkerings once I actually get some parts on order. The initial plan is a modern engine with Tremec 6 spd, coilover suspension, disc brakes, bucket seats. I've been struggling with making a decision on the engine. I have a line on a 5.0 coyote from an F150 at a decent price if it's going to stay Ford in a Ford. I've also found a 6.0 LS LQ4 for about half the price of the coyote. Very tempting to throw the bowtie heart in the Ford! If going the LS route, then I'd like to do a turbo setup pushing for 600 HP or so. Definitely open for recommendations if anyone has any.

Stay Ford and paint the engine blue. Or, check out delmospeed's new FE valve cover adapters for LS. Either way, it's a beauty

Very nice truck! If your u can swing it, I vote for the coyote and keeping it all Ford. I love the one in my F150.

Thanks guys. At this time, I'm leaning towards the coyote/T56 combo. Should make for a fun ride. Made the trip to Kentucky this weekend to bring the ol Ford home from my dad's garage. Good to have a project back in the garage. Stay tuned.

ooh, go with the coyote and give it a ghost cam tune, if you aren't going to put in an actual set of cams for it. They sound great when done right, without having to spend the money on an actual set of cams.

I sold it to a guy just east of Nashville. I'm not sure if it's still around here or if he even still has it.

After a small road trip on Friday, I am officially back in a Chevy! I picked up this 72 Suburban from a guy on Craiglist from east TN. Those little hamster wheels in my head are already spinning and I'm working on a parts list. I'll make a build thread for it soon and link it here for those that care to follow.
